Learn how to enroll your patients in Practice Fusion's patient portal while meeting all your Meaningful Use Stage 1 and Stage 2 requirements. Our recommended workflow maximizes patient engagement while limiting the burden on your staff.
2. + Turn on secure messaging in the Patient engagement
section of Settings

3. + Assign a staff member or intern to be an “enrollment
advisor”
+ With all new patients, have them gather the patient’s
information, including email, and guide them through
enrollment

4. + Enroll the patient in the Patient Portal
From the patient’s chart, go to Patient Actions → Manage patient
portal (PHR) access

5. + Enable patient portal access for the patient:
Select the relationship to the patient, then enter an email and phone
number
The contact will need access to the PIN or the phone number on file
to create the account

6. + From the email, have the patient register using their PIN or
phone number

7. + Upon creating their account, your patients will be able to
manage their care and view their structured health records:
Diagnoses, Medications, Allergies, Immunizations, Lab Results you
choose to share, and more

8. + Have the patient go to Messages, click New Message,
select their provider, then send a relevant message.
+ This will fulfill all of your Stage 2 Patient Engagement
