2. A) HORTI-BASED INDUSTRIAL PLACEMENT.
In the 1 st week of my placement that is at INDO AMERICAN NUSERY,
Hoskote, Banglore.
So i have learnt about ornamentals and their maintenance.
In the entomology point of view I have learnt how to control the
pests like aphids, whiteflies and thrips are the major ones.
These are controled by spraying :Acetamapride @0.3ml/ltr.
And also bcz of high moisture there were some snails attack, so for
that they only repot the mixture and keep in shade.
Then i have seen some pollintaors like Honeybees, wasps and
butterflies in the Nursery... For the attraction of these pollintaors
they have planted some plants like Lantana, hibiscus, marigold etc.
3. In the 2 nd week at ARUN FARMS & NURSERY, Hoskote,
Banglore.
Here I have learnt about Polyhouse structure planing and
what are the necessary things to build it.
And also they used to keep plants outside the polyhouse
for hardening and marketing, here I have seen some poor
maintenance of some plants so that there were some
mealybugs and aphids. Bcz of these insects plants had
turned to black color.
And here before planting they make some treatments with
chemicals like Bavistin ( to avoid soil borne diseases) Etc.
Inside the polyhouse there was two types of shade net and
he also given importance for insect attack so he covered
his polyhouse by insect proof nets.
4. In the 3rd week at H. U. GUGLE BIOTECH, Pvt. Ltd. In
Devanahalli, Banglore.
In this company mainly oriented on producing tissue
culture plants of Banana, pomegranate and teak.
So they mainly give importance for cleanliness and
sanitization inside the lab
I observed that they procure a rhizome from farmers who
have taken plants from tissue culture lab itself, so that
the rhizomes are pest and disease free and quality
material.
So for inside the lab without washing our hands and legs
they were not allow anybody, But outside they have some
hardening units there I found the plants which are wilted.
