3. THE BEGENING
• How do you manage your home when your parents
are not at home?
• How do you manage your pocket money?
• How did you created balance between sports and
studies in your class 12th.
• Do you save some money for yourself when your
mother sends you to buy something from the
market?
5. • I love watching movies, I believe most of us do.
• There are movies that hold hidden lessons for
management.
• I hope everyone should have watched the Amir
Khan starrer movie Dangal.
• I would like to highlight few leadership and
management lessons one can take away from movie
Dangal.
6. HUNT WITHIN YOURSELF
• Mahavir lost the hope of making his son a world
class wrestler till the time he saw the capability of
his daughters to fight and give a tough time to the
local boys of the village. He focused on working
with his existing resources and made them win
International gold medal.
• Lesson: You may not be able to get the perfect
situation always in your life, you should identify
your internal talent and enable yourself to achieve
the goals.
7. Change Management
• Society laughs at Mahvir's decision of her
daughters to take wrestling as a profession. He
breaks out of the prison of thought against his
family, village and society who thought that only
men can wrestle.
• Lesson: Stand up against all odds and don’t be
afraid of challenges. Always remember Every
challenge has an opportunity.
8. ANALYSIS
• Mahavir studied the past videos of Geeta Kumari
(his daughter) to understand mistakes for her
failures in international contests. He studied and
made Geeta work on those weaknesses to achieve
success in future.
• Lesson: Analyze Yourself. Always take out some
time to talk to yourself daily. Think what have you
done today. What better you can do tomorrow.
9. Timeframe and Deadlines
• Mahavir's wife expresses concern as to why he
would put the girls through this training to selfishly
fulfil his dream. He asks for a deadline of one year
to allow him his way to train them and see if they
had the potential to develop into wrestlers.
• Lesson: Work with a timeframe and deadlines in
mind. Deadlines deliver.
10. Goal Setting
• National coach sets goal of Bronze medal for Geeta
while Mahavir sets a goal for Gold medal.
• Lesson: You should identify your infinite potential
and set the right goals. Your past performance is
not going to affect your future.
• Your future is a clear sheet of paper. Don’t allow
your past to write your future. Write it yourself.
12. DREAM BIG WITH PERFECT PLANNING:
Bhuvan accepting the challenge to play the
cricket match, as winning it meant 3 years of
'TAX FREE' happiness. But he did not just
dream 'BIG', he also chalked out a strategic plan
of action to win the match. He then put it before
eyes of those, whose involvement was of
importance in the match.
13. MAKE A BEGINNING: TAKE THE INITIATIVE
Bhuvan did not wait to start.
He made bat and a ball, got the kid interested
and started.
Lead from the front.
Only when we close the door behind us, we will
see the doors in front start opening.
14. Building the team is like recruitment.
One needs to select the right people and motivate
them.
He understands the pressures and the soft points of
people, and uses this knowledge to make them part
of his team.
Each one of his team members is treated as special,
as being different.
15. TRAIN AND PRACTICE:
• There are no shortcuts for physical and mental
fitness. Bhuvan and his team strongly believed it
and never compromised on it.
• There is only one mantra: To be well trained and
have good enough practice.... which is HARD
WORK!
16. MAKE THE BEST OF LIMITED RESOURCES:
Bhuvan made the best out of his limited
resources. The tools for the game were all made
by the village folk and were made out of the best
that they could lay their hands on.
As entrepreneurs we too must be innovative. The
focus should be on getting the work done and
not on the availability of resources
17. ITS ABOUT TEAM SPIRIT:
No matter how well Bhuvan played in the match,
nothing would have been possible if all the team
members did not put in their efforts
Bhuvan showed how an average team filled with
team spirit can overcome a group of talented,
experienced but under-motivated individuals.
18. In sport, in business and in life ……. always be alert,
because you never know when opportunity may knock
on your door.
Never Give Up... that was Bhuvan's
winning mantra. This attitude of his
also enabled him to give his best shot
even at the last ball and thus win the
match.
