The document discusses the difference between contributors and non-contributors. It defines contributors as those who define themselves based on their potential and commitment to bettering an organization, while non-contributors see themselves based on past accomplishments. Contributors are described as supportive, sympathetic, sensitive, solicitous, and spiritual. They are inner-directed, take responsibility, think win-win, and care about others. In contrast, non-contributors are outer-directed, complain, are self-interested, think win-lose, and do not care about others. The document provides an example interview of a long-time teacher and concludes that to succeed, one should like what they do for work.

3. Our aim is to know about Who are
Contributors? How are they
fundamentally different from Non-contributors
in their overall approach
to work, to other human beings, to society
as a whole?
4. Contributors define themselves in terms of what
they will become or accomplish (e.g. capacity to
deliver, commitment and ownership of the
organization’s purpose, etc.). This is a dynamic
identity based on your “being” and “becoming”.
Such an identity lets you choose to live a better
future.
Non-contributors usually define themselves in
terms of what they have acquired in life (e.g.
qualifications, position, years of experience,
etc.). This is a static identity, based on your
past glories or past failures. This static identity
leaves you trapped in history.
