periodlastyear.Theusedcarbusiness,inthiseconomicperiod,shouldbe
moreinteresting.
AcasestudyofusedcarmarketinWTCManggaDuaJakarta,revealsthatin
July2018there’s15% salesincreasedifcomparedtothesameperiodlast
year.UsedcarmarketplaceiskindofsectorthatbenefitingfromIndonesia’s
digitalgrowth.Thereareliterallydozenofplayersofonlinecarmarketplace
andclassifiedadsandnoneareclearlyleadingthemarket.
TToobserveuser’sawarenessinonlinecarmarketplace,DailySocial
collaboratedwithJakPatMobileSurveyandsurveyed1871smartphoneusers
inIndonesia.Inthissurvey,wefocusonnichemarketplaceandclassifiedads
platformthatonlyservecarmarket,notplatformthatservegeneralmarket
(e.gOLXIndonesia).

were1257respondents(67%)whoanswered"YES".
Further,wecontinuewithquestionaboutusingonlineservicestosupportthese
activities.
Majorityofrespondents(96%)saidtheyuseddigitalservicestoassistinfinding,
buying,orsellingcars.Digitalservicesincludewebsitesandmobileapps.
Forafewwhoarenotusingdigitalservices,weaskedfurtheronthereason
behindit.Threefundamentalaspectsplayrolehere:(1)wanttoseethecar
directly,(2)notfamiliarwithonlinecarmarketplaceplatform,and(3)notyet
convincedondoingonlinetransaction,primarilyiflargesumofmoney(tobuy
car)involved.
