2. BACKGROUND
It has been a year since Netflix attempted to enter the Indonesian market.
Local telcos & cable providers have also begun providing their own Internet-
based pay-per-view Video-on-Demand (VoD) services.
This survey seeks to glimpse consumer response to VoD so far, not just
among pay-per-view VoD services but also in comparison to free-to-access
services such as YouTube.
Survey conducted by DailySocial.id in cooperation with the Jakpat mobile
survey platform. Number of 1037 respondents sampled from population of
smartphone users throughout Indonesia.

In general we can confidently say our respondents know what VoD is.
Our respondents mostly associate VoD with video delivered through the Internet (51.21%)
and with video that needs to be paid per view (49.66%)

7. As is generally assumed, YouTube dominates the free-to-access VoD space, with 91.85% of
respondents having accessed the service.
Second place is Emtek/KMK-owned Vidio, with 25.22% of respondents having used the service
Vimeo, which has been officially blocked from access in Indonesia for some years, has 14.26%
6.79% uses none of the VOD that’s listed above.
