BITTA
DESIGN RODOLFO DORDONI
Kettal Bitta is characterised by a combination of aluminium frames , seats of braided
polyester and comfortable cushions, teak and stone for the table tops—all comple-
tely weatherproof materials.
My aim was to create dense braiding that would still let the air through, reminiscent
of the braiding of the ropes used to moor boats (hence the name Bitta, which means
‘mooring’ in Italian), which makes the pieces look lightweight but, at the same time,
they look just like cosy nests in natural colours to sit back and relax in.
Kettal Bitta se caracteriza por una combinación de estructuras de aluminio, asientos
trenzados con cuerda de poliéster y cómodos cojines, madera de teka y piedra para
los sobres de mesa, materiales perfectamente resistentes a la intemperie.
«Mi intención era crear un trenzado denso pero que respirara —que recordara el
trenzado de los cabos que se utiliza para amarrar las barcas a los amarraderos (de
ahí el nombre Bitta, que significa ‘amarradero’ en italiano)—, que confiriera a las
piezas una sensación de ligereza pero, que éstas se vieran como nidos acogedores
en tonos naturales en los que relajarse.»
Kettal Bitta se caractérise par une combinaison de structures en aluminium, d’assises en
corde polyester tressée et de coussins confortables, ainsi que de dessus de table en teck
et en pierre, tous les matériaux utilisés étant parfaitement résistants aux intempéries.
« Je voulais créer un tressage à la fois dense et aéré – qui rappelle le tressage des
cordages utilisés pour amarrer les bateaux à quai (d’où le nom Bitta, qui signifie ‘bitte
d’amarrage’ en italien –, qui donne une sensation de légèreté et, l’aspect accueillant
d’un nid dans des tons naturels et dans lequel on peut se détendre. »
Kettal Bitta zeichnet sich durch ihre besondere Materialkombination aus: Alumi-
niumstrukturen, mit Polyesterkordeln geflochtene Sitzflächen und bequeme Stoff-
kissen und Tischflächen aus Teakholz und Stein. Alle verwendeten Materialien sind
ausgesprochen wetterbeständig.
Meine Absicht war ein dichtes Geflecht zu gestalten, das dennoch atmungsaktiv ist —
es sollte an die geflochtenen Taue erinnern, mit denen die Boote an den Anlegestegen
festgezurrt werden (daher auch der Name Bitta, das italienische Wort für „Anlege-
steg“)— und das den Möbelstücken einerseits Leichtigkeit verleihen sollte, gleichzeitig
aber auch den Eindruck eines behaglichen, in Naturtönen gehaltenen Nestes
vermitteln sollte, das zum Entspannen einlädt.“

BOB
DESIGN HELLA JONGERIUS
For Kettal Hella Jongerius designed a club garden set named BOB, a reinterpre-
tation of the typical garden club chair.
The aluminum frame has a sturdy dark look from the front but surprises at the
back with an elegant, light construction. The seating is formed of soft and volumi-
nous ribs which are accented with visible stitching. Winded yarn is used for the
detailing of the armrests and on the handles of the BOB footstool and side table.
Hella Jongerius ha diseñado para Kettal un set de club de jardín denominado BOB,
que no es sino una reinterpretación de la silla club de jardín tradicional.
El chasis de aluminio de color oscuro le confiere robustez por la parte frontal,
mientras que la parte trasera destaca por una elegante construcción ligera. El
asiento está formado por suaves y voluminosas varillas, acentuadas por puntadas
visibles. Para el detalle de los reposabrazos y los asideros del reposapiés BOB así
como de la mesa lateral BOB se ha utilizado cordón retorcido.

réinterprétation du traditionnel fauteuil club de jardin.
Son châssis en aluminium foncé lui confère à la fois un aspect robuste, de face, et
une surprenante légèreté tout en élégance, de dos. L’assise est formée de larges
côtes douces accentuées par des piquages apparents. Pour le détail de l’accoudoir
des cordons torsadés sont utilisés ainsi que sur les poignées du repose-pieds BOB
et sur la table auxiliaire BOB.

gestaltet, eine Neuinterpretation des typischen Clubsessels für den Außenbereich.
Der dunkle Aluminiumrahmen wirkt von vorne robust, von hinten gesehen
überrascht jedoch seine elegante, leichte Ausführung. Die Sitzfläche besteht aus
weichen, bauschigen Rippen, deren Form von einem dekorativen Stickmuster
hervorgehoben wird. Eine gedrehte Kordel schmückt die Armstützen, sowie die
Griffe der Fußbank und des Beistelltisches.

Il telaio in alluminio scuro si caratterizza per l’aspetto robusto se visto

seduta è costituita da doghe morbide e voluminose evidenziate dalle cuciture a
vista. Per le finiture dei braccioli, così come per le maniglie del poggiapiedi e del
tavolino laterale BOB, è stata usata corda intrecciata.

collection was hailed as one of the most representative designs of our century by
Javier Mariscal at Bombay Sapphire.

creator, Marcel Wanders. Inspired by early-century pavilions, Kettal Atmosphere

unique atmosphere and lifestyle. The system consists of a totally configurable
aluminium pavilion and contemporary furniture set inspired by bygone days.

de su autor Marcel Wanders. Inspirada en los pabellones de principios de siglo

has a customisable cover system that enables you to play with a variety of shapes and
colours to create your own unique style for any space. The sizes, shapes and Kettal Puur
integrated foam means that the furniture can be placed both indoors and outdoors.

thermally bonded Textilene mesh give it a purist look; the aluminium frame has
been overdesigned in order to achieve polished lines.
