COVER LETTER
My name is Preston Gamblin. I am a Veteran of the United States Air Force where I
served from 1992-1995 with honor (DD-214 available upon request). I joined the Air
Force immediately upon completion of High School in 1992. Upon completion of my
time with the Air Force I have held several various positions from Head of Security of a
night club to Stunt/Fight Coordinator for a Western themed theme park until I joined the
Arizona Department of Corrections in 2003. I recently left my work with the Arizona
State Prison Complex in Tucson Arizona in order to pursue a different avenue in my life
goals. During my career with the Arizona Department of Corrections I have held several
different positions in my continuing grasp for knowledge and self-improvement.
Approximately eight months into my career with the Department my Supervisors hand
selected me to begin work with the Mental Health Unit as well as the Violence Control
Unit. I have since worked in various areas of the Department of Corrections to include
Property, Special Security Unit (SSU Gang Intelligence) at SMU I (Maximum Custody)
and the Special Security Unit (SSU Gang Intelligence) with Cook Unit (Sex offender
yard). During my time in SSU I had the opportunity on many occasions to work hand in
hand with the Criminal Investigations Unit (Post Certified Investigators) where I assisted
in Criminal Investigations within the Prison setting. In 2010 I was promoted to Sergeant
and relocated to the Tucson Complex.
My background includes Team Leader for Self Defense, Team Leader for the Hostage
Negotiation Team, Instruction in Gang Intel/identifiers as well as supervisory duties. I
have completed and implemented several FEMA courses during my time in service of the
State.

2010-2014 Arizona State Prison
Sergeant – Arizona Department of Corrections Tucson Complex, Tucson Arizona
- Supervisor for 30+ staff in the Arizona State Prison system
- Duties to include but not limited to;
- Monitoring inmate activities to ensure the safe and secure operations of the Unit.
- Adapted to and implementing various security practices for fellow staff as well as the
inmates within the Prison System.
- Conducting targeted searches, phone monitoring, as well as mail scans to ensure safe
operating procedures.
- Took over the Support Services Sergeant position on 7/18/2012. Responsibilities
included:
* Radio Communications Coordinator for the entire Tucson Complex. These
duties included accountability of all communication systems throughout the Tucson
Complex, ensuring that all communication systems were operational and functioning to
full capacity, as well as general maintenance of equipment and pick-up and delivery of all
equipment in need of extensive repair and/or replacement.
*Work Crew Supervisor responsible for over 20 Officers and approximately 400
inmates assigned to various work crew locations throughout the southern Arizona
Region. Work locations included, but not limited to, the Humane Society of Southern
Arizona, Habitat for Humanity, City of Benson, Border Cleanup crews, as well as
Arizona Department of Transportation highway clean-up crew. During my time as the
Supervisor for the Border clean-up crew we were responsible for the collections of over
100,000 lbs of trash collected and benefiting the environment for the State of Arizona.
Our crew of approximately 8 inmates were recognized by the Judge of Sierra Vista for
their contributions in the transformation of one of the oldest Rodeo grounds in the
Southwest. Duties also included the review of Contract and Contract modifications in
order to meet the needs of the Clients as well as assure Clients followed proper prison
procedures.
2006-2010 Arizona State Prison

- Case building and information gathering for validation of specific STG groups.
- Maintaining records and evidence regarding various crimes within the prison.
- Adapted to and implementing various security practices for fellow staff as well as the
inmates within the Prison System.
- Monitoring inmate activities to ensure the safe and secure operations of the Unit.
- Conducting targeted searches, phone monitoring, as well as mail scans to ensure safe

- Completed a course offered by Mental Health staff and Psych. Doctors to provide
proper mental health care for inmates with severe mental health disorders. Completed the
course identifiers ranging from Bi-Polar disorder to Schizophrenia to aid the Psych staff
properly provide care for the Mental Health inmate population.
- Responsible for ensuring the safety of the inmates and staff due to their unstable nature.
2003-2004 Arizona State Prison
Correctional Officer II Special Management Unit 1 Florence Arizona
- After completion of the Correctional Officers Training Academy I was placed at Special
Management Unit One (SMU I – Maximum Custody Unit) in Florence, Arizona.
- Upon arrival to SMU I, I was placed into the Protective Segregation area to work the
floor.
- Delivery of food, mail, and basic needs were part of the daily duties assigned to the
floor officers.
- Continue checks and count on the inmates in the Lock down Unit.
- Provide inmates with the opportunity to shower and to take recreation while
maintaining safety and accountability.
1998-2003 Old Tucson Studios
Live action performer/Stunt Lead/Stunt and fight Coordinator Tucson Arizona
-Various duties included maintaining a safe environment for fellow stunt performers and
guest within the park. Constant training of staff was important in order to maintain a safe
and effective live action show. Stunt activity ranged from performance of high falls up to
(but not limited) 40+ feet, Ground action fighting, Mini trampoline work, various ground
flips, various fight technique, as well as various weapon safety and handling.
- During my time with Old Tucson Studios I had the pleasure of networking with several
organizations and partaking in promotional videos from their respective companies.
Some of these companies span from major sports networks to major distribution
companies.
- Duties also included dealings with people of note in the entertainment world. These
dealings were to be discrete and not bring negative attention to the entertainer or the
production company.
- While working in the live action entertainment field it was my responsibility to develop
character and show ideas to entertain a vast array of multi-cultural people that would visit
the park daily and where from various parts of the world.

-Duties included the stocking of vehicles in order to properly complete the job

altercations within the night club setting. Training of staff in proper physical methods to
safely escort a combative individual outside of the club limiting damage to property as
well as staff and cliental.
1992-1995 United States Air Force
-Upon completion of High School, attended Basic Training for the United States Air
Force at Lackland AFB, San Antonio Texas
-Assigned to 2A-Electro Environmental field and continued course study at Rantoul AFB
in Illinois. Assigned to Travis AFB in Fairfield California after course study.
-Travis AFB – Permanent Duty Station assigned to the 60th
AGS (Aircraft Generation
Squadron) maintaining Environmental systems on the C-5A Galaxy aircraft. During my
service at Travis I was awarded two different Base Accommodations regarding my
volunteer time for base spruce up detail in order to accommodate several leading
dignitaries’ visits to the facility. Duties also included maintaining security of the flight
line during all operational procedures.
