Generally, women leaders hold the key to bringing a massive change to the planet. They feel the need
to bring much-needed positivity and impact their business for good. Keeping an environment full of
supportive people helps women leaders to a large extent. It allows leaders to be confident in their
decision-making process, which eventually helps with better ROI.
Women tend to be much more responsible and lead with empathy in their ways of leading a team. We
can easily expect that women leaders will soon represent many versatile roles. So, it becomes
necessary to stay ready and keep the desire burning to lead all the industry sectors. Women leaders are
always prepared for various opportunities and challenges coming their way. They are also aware that
their role in society and the industry is for a higher cause.
In this edition of “The 10 Most Powerful Business Women to Watch in 2022”, we have carefully
curated a list of the most powerful businesswomen setting new benchmarks for excellence in their
respective sectors.
Featuring this edition is the Cover Story of Indiana Gregg, the founder, and CEO of Wedo, a
communications and banking services application that allows anyone to set up video and audio chats,
take payments in-stream, send and receive invoices money and transact like a global company
without the hassles and costs.
Indiana has founded five companies and has never been employed. She is a former U.S. national

streaming industry.
ith the advancement of women empowerment and
societal changes, we can regularly see women in
leadership roles. However, we can’t ignore the fact that
male-dominated industry still exists in most leadership
roles. In some of the roles, women are still ignored and taken less
seriously than their male counterparts. Currently, to be an efficient
leader, people need to stay in touch with the ongoing technical needs and changes. Thanks to the
versatile needs of the industry, it is imperative to adapt to these changes to be a successful business
leader.

The 10 Most Powerful Business Women to Watch in 2022.
As a techie who has been
developing tech for more than
25 years, she has founded five
companies and has never been
employed. She is a former
U.S. national dance champion,
was a recording artist as a
young single mother of three,
and later developed the
streaming platform
Kerchoonz, which was a
music industry first and helped
form the basis of the digital
music streaming industry.
Indiana believes in conscious
capitalism that empowers
people to do what they love.
She has been in the fintech
industry for the past decade,
and she loves to innovate and
develop in this space.
The common threads
throughout her career have
been creativity,
problem-solving, and an
intense focus and persistence.
Going back to the early days,
the decision that influenced
her the most was having
children and the responsibility
to provide for them, along
with the desire to create a
career path where she could
grow. Indiana is a curious
person, so she is constantly
learning and upgrading her
“system” and her toolkit of
knowledge.
Improving People’s
Lives

media app. With the app, clients can point, shoot,
and live stream to up to a million people per call,
connect with their clients, and have a steady
communication flow with them in a one-to-one or
group setting. The Wedo team has built the
platform so that virtually any business can use the
app to save the time, money, and energy it takes to
chase down payments and have an easy workflow
with their customers, family, or audiences. It is
designed to improve people's lives and level the
playing field for small businesses and freelancers
everywhere.
The best part of Wedo is that businesses of all
sizes, including small businesses, freelance
consultants, and entrepreneurs with large teams,
can benefit from it. The company is fully focused
on the seamless tech that empowers its customers.
The Wedo team believes that the best way to
establish faith and trust is through transparency,
honesty, and clear communication. Ensuring a
good customer experience, transparent terms, and
a fair deal is what people want and need, and it is
what the team at Wedo is after. It is a team made
up of dedicated multicultural and diverse people
who love their work. It starts with the Wedo team
and spreads to the outer world.
Indiana sums up what they do with this statement:
“We are humans helping humans to help more
humans.”
Tackling Challenges
There are always challenges when a company
grows from a small unit of people into a larger
organization and then onward to scale. The main
challenge is to fill roles within the company with
people of integrity and the skill sets the company
needs for near-term and long-term success.
Cultural fit is very important to the team. As an
organization, Wedo appreciates a mixture of hard
skills and soft skills, but soft skills, in particular,
are very important in a diverse team like theirs.
The energy of the team is infectious, and as the
founder, Indiana wants to keep it that way.
Mentor’s Guidance
Indiana feels she got where she is today by being
true to herself and others and doing the things she
loves: growing and leading teams, building things,
and creating in general, regardless of the industry.
Making a consistent commitment to her education
has probably been the best decision she has ever
made, as it has given her the freedom and
flexibility to pivot in her journey as a creator.
She has had several mentors, advisors, and coaches
throughout the period who have helped her,
nurtured her, taught her, and befriended her.
Without them, she wouldn’t be the person she is
today. She considers herself lucky in school and
university to have had outstanding teachers and
professors; amazing men and women who took an
interest in her from an early age. She has great
parents who believed in her, supported her, and
10 10
loved her, and she has learned a lot from
raising three children of her own. As a leader,
her life has been a beautiful combination of
years of hard work, humility, and love.
Future Roadmap
Wedo plans to continue to innovate
boldly, create great products and features,
and roll out globally. Indiana is most
excited about helping millions of people
live their dreams and start or grow their
businesses using Wedo’s tools. She is
looking forward to watching them build
their communities via the application and
feel the support of their peers, so they can
grow and develop the next generation of
brilliant entrepreneurs.
Dr. Angela Butts
Chester
Pastoral Counsellor | DR ANGELA CHESTER

M
The 10 Most Powerful Business Women to Watch in 2022
eet Dr. Angela Butts Chester, is a
Pastoral Counselor of New Life Pastoral
Counseling. Dr. Chester is a professional
speaker, radio and TV host, cancer survivor, and
author. She has built a career spanning more than
20 years and thousands of people counselled. She
has also served as an Associate Pastor and has built
a reputation as a thought leader on issues related to
motivation and Christian empowerment.
It all started when Dr. Chester was 16. After having
a conversation with her Pastor, Dr. Chester shared
how she loved helping others find solutions, sharing
her faith, but and also teaching the scriptures to
empower Christians. Her pastor informed her that
was the role of a Pastoral Counsellor. Which
eventually fuelled Dr. Chester’s dreams of
becoming a Pastoral Counsellor.
She then decided to add a podcast to her list. One
day, she prayed a simple prayer asking God for the
opportunity to be on the radio. Fast forward 5 years,
Dr. Chester got a phone call to have her show. After
some formalities, she was asked for the name of her
show, and she had 24 hours. Daily Spark with Dr.
Angela was born.
Within a year, Dr. Chester went from a weekly
show to a daily show; from one location to three
locations. Let’s fast forward again to 2021. She is
now on every day except Sunday nationally.
Dr. Chester’s show can be found on Pandora,
Spotify, iHeartRadio, and other streaming
platforms.
Reaching the Target Audience
Dr. Chester understands her audiences are vary
between radio and TV yet they both agree that faith
and books are important. Each book is as different
as the author who wrote it; interviewees include
Young Adults to Senior guests, from various
backgrounds, ethnicities, and areas of the world. So,
branching out to include more genres of books
allows Dr. Chester to introduce her show to an even
bigger audience. One way she is doing this is by
included more Awareness Day events.
Dr. Chester and her team are also rolling out in
different media outlets, not just traditional sources
like cable. Viewers can now watch Daily Spark TV
via Roku, Vimeo, Glorystar, or stream online. The
radio show naturally airs daily on radio, but viewers
can also stream from Spotify, Pandora, Amazon
Music, TuneIn, and others whenever they like.
Offering the shows in traditional ways for Dr.
Chester’s mature audience yet making it more
mobile for her younger audience. Staying authentic
while mindful.
Biggest Failure
Dr. Chester feels, sharing original ideas with strang-
ers while networking was a bad idea. She says, “I
was young and didn’t understand the value of an
idea. Lesson learned. That experience, however,
hasn’t kept me from exploring opportunities to
collaborate with awesome groups. I’ve learned to
get it all in writing first.”

my light and you
shine your light,
together, we will

we will bring light

“
“
According to Dr. Chester, some people are
frightened by the role of leadership – but she is not
one of those people. She thinks every good leader
should possess vision, humility, commitment, and
intentionality.
She still remembers when she accepted her award
for Daily Spark TV, she not only thanked the
viewers but her various teams by name, as well as
her family.
Mission and Vision
Dr. Chester’s tag line is – “to enlighten, inspire and
empower you to be your best self.” Her calling in
life is to help others to live the best version of
themselves. To have the information they need to
make informed decisions and live as authentically
as possible. She does that by providing a radio
show (audio) and tv show (visual) and
one-on-one/group (personal/individual attention)
sessions.
When it comes to leadership styles, Dr. Chester
believes the most common words that describe her
leadership, would be inspirational, motivational,
great coach, supportive, charismatic. She believes
in giving actionable information and being
supportive without micromanaging.
Dr. Chester wears many hats - visionary, influencer,
and coach. Understanding what is needed of her in
any given situation, she feels is the key. Situational
awareness is Dr. Chester’s strongest asset. As
someone who helps others understand and honor
their faith, servant leadership – putting others first –
is also important.
Future Roadmap
Dr. Chester’s life motto is also her tagline - to
“enlighten, inspire and empower.” It reminds her
daily ‘why.’
14 14
Looking at the upcoming
few years, Dr. Chester
looks forward to returning
to in-person TV filming for
the second half of the year.
Due to the pandemic, she
and her team have done
things remotely, allowing
for domestic and
international guests to still
participate.
Dr. Chester’s in-person
production is handled by a
women-owned company
and she is happy to bring
them back on board. This
also gives the guest an
experience both in front of
the camera and behind the
scenes. For many, this also
translates into social media
influence and monetization.
In-person transitional
planning includes
conferences, speaking
engagements, training, and
the like. New team
members will be added
accordingly. Dr. Chester
will continue to provide
remote access for these
services, especially for
international connections.
Having been featured in a
global luxury lifestyle and
business magazine, she wishes
to do all it can to continue to
work with those from around
the world.

When asked about the key
factors that influenced Dr.
Vasiliu-Feltes’ decision to be
an author, she said, “The
decision to publish was
suggested to me by several
colleagues after I received
numerous global awards and
being named a global thought
leader for a variety of technol-

promote sustainable economic growth, she has
collaborated with other global, not-for-profit
organizations that are aligned with the UN SDG
2030 Agenda and promotion of social entrepreneur-
ship.
Adapting to the Changing Market is Key
Dr. Vasiliu-Feltes believes global business leaders
who wish to gain a competitive advantage in this
digital era must be prepared to engage in a continu-
ous digital and business transformation journey.
Additionally, being able to dynamically adapt to
various economic demands and offer solutions that
cover multiple industries will be a coveted feature
in this highly globalized and hyper-connected
world.
She also says, “I have always emphasized the need
for integrity, life-long learning, aiming for excel-
lence, demonstrating resilience, embracing an
abundance mindset, and designing a customized
pathway to success that uniquely suits each individu-
al’s passion, expertise, or skill sets.”
20 20
Around 2015, when I was still running businesses alongside writing articles for online business publications, I
picked up on a shocking report. As an owner of a business scaling-up, I had a sunny outlook on the prospects for
female entrepreneurship.
were more Daves, Marks, Andrews, and Ians too. Nor was this absurdity restricted to the UK. The New York
Times also found more men called John, James, Robert, or William running companies in the US than women. I
discovered that women filled only about 23% of boardroom roles at this point. This was less than seven years
ago, in this time of so-called equality.
By 2018, women in the UK were still only half as likely to start a business as men, and only a third of existing
entrepreneurs were women. I have read extensive studies citing several different reasons for the degrees of the
gap – not one, incidentally, to do any lack of ability on women's part.
Root causes
One problem that always comes up is women’s lack of confidence. One study from the University of California
found the difference in gender confidence to be considerably higher in the more industrialized countries, which
is shocking. It could indicate that the more we evolve as a society, the more women's roles are reversed.
Part of the problem lies in disparity within education, particularly in those industrial countries. At home, high
percentages of girls are still taught that finances mean balancing the budgets for the home, while boys learn
stocks and shares. The education systems do little or nothing to address this inequality, claiming that the teach-
ing of finances is a parental responsibility. So, we see inequality perpetuated.
STEM education is little better. There is still a much higher involvement from boys in STEM after-school clubs.
Later, women in STEM make up a paltry 28% of the workforce. So with women less able to keep pace with the
acceleration in STEM industries and having less financial education, they are immediately disadvantaged. And
it follows that you will see a reluctance to lean in and an aversion to risks.
If that wasn't enough, COVID hit women hard. While childcare costs were often a mammoth issue, over and
above that, women were suddenly faced with having no childcare and the necessity of home-schooling. While
most previous recessions hurt men's employment worst, this time around, it was the women, with over 30% more
likely to be working in sectors that were hit by lockdowns. A McKinsey report showed women’s jobs to be 1:8
times more vulnerable. Entrepreneurs fared little better, with closures higher in women-owned businesses. The
IMF warned that COVID threatened to put women's economic gains back by thirty years.
22 22
However, this report identified that there were more men called John leading the UK#39;s most prominent
FTSE 100 companies than there were women. My jaw dropped as I read. It wasn#39;t only John – there were
more Daves, Marks, Andrews, and Ians too. Nor was this absurdity restricted to the UK. The New York Times
also found more men called John, James, Robert, or William running companies in the US than women. I
discovered thatwomen filled only about 23% of boardroom roles at this point. This was less than seven years
ago, in this time of so-called equality.
Small and Micro-Businesses
On the positive side, there are 114% more female entrepreneurs in the US than twenty years ago. Many, particu-
larly during COVID, started side-hustles to protect their income or balance childcare and working. But there are
plenty of full-time entrepreneurs too.
There is an enormous amount of money generated by women, which is only expected to grow. According to
Ernst and Young's figures, women's global income will increase from £13 trillion to £18 trillion in the next five
years. FemTech companies alone are estimated to be worth $50 billion by 2025.
Women and Scaling-up
Start-ups might look hopeful, but only 1.3 female entrepreneurs own medium to large businesses compared with
3.3% of men. That is a colossal gap, and now we can see where the dominance of men, be they, Dave or John,
outnumbering women lies.
One problem is, without a
doubt, the funding. Whether
through confidence or
knowledge of the low
success rates, a report by
Fundera showed only one in
four applicants applying for
finance were women and
that they were asking
$35,000 less on average than
men, just as women in
employment ask for less in
their salary raises. Confi-
dence has to be a part of
that.

(CEO)
www.jancavelle.com
The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor sadly reflected this in November. It showed women as representing only
around one in three of the growth-orientated entrepreneurs globally. Only 30.2% of women expected to hire six
or more employees in the next five years compared to 48% of men.
23 23
The 10 Most Powerful Business Women to Watch in 2022
Instead of things at least inching forward, the
percentage of VC Deals that went to female-led
start-ups actually declined in 2020 in the US, drop-
ping from the already ridiculous 2.8% to 2.3%.
who run investment funds. Daves outnumbered all
women by 68 to 45. Even more shockingly, only 7.2
percent of UK-domiciled funds were managed by
women.
Yet – and this is how truly ridiculous this state of
affairs is - when women get the money, they are much
more likely to pay it back with dividends. A Boston
Consulting group analysis placed this figure as no less
than twice per dollar invested.
The future
I do believe that women-owned businesses and the
money in the sector will grow massively. Automation is
barely hitting the workforce yet, but job losses will
become more and more severe, and women will be
forced into considering alternative ways of making a
living, either for themselves, in addition to, or on behalf
of a partner. Many more will do so by choice.
There is no doubt that in the world of scale-up,
however, women have a long road to go. COVID
has made this road longer, with fewer women
already on the way up or as role models to follow.
The shrinkage of allocated funding will also make
things worse. The Elizabeth Holmes trial has
done nothing to help women’s cause, picked over
in a way that would never have happened had she
been a man. In Silicon Valley, the men have been
faking it till they made it for decades.
The economy and the world suffer without equal-
ity. There are no grounds to suggest that women
are less able. We need to see it happen.
To ensure it, we have to tackle equality of educa-
tion in STEM and Finance. We have to destroy
the old boys' network in the financial sector and,
above all, give women the confidence to believe
that they are just as capable of growing business-
es as their male counterparts. Currently, wom-
en's entrepreneurship seems to be going back-
ward, and we have to stem that tide. We know
diversity gets the best results. The economy and
the world need women entrepreneurs more than
ever before. We need to ensure this happens.
Investment has always been an “old-boys” network.
In the UK, in 2021, Morningstar ran a study of Men
called Dave viz v number of women for the people
who run investment funds. Daves outnumbered all
women by 68 to 45. Even more shockingly, only 7.2
percent of UK-domiciled funds were managed by
women.

Tackling Challenges
Since the first quarter of 2020, we saw the
emergence of the pandemic, which eventually led
to millions of deaths and job losses across the
world. And just like its competitors, Rohmann
GmbH also took the brunt of the pandemic. The
order situation was weaker, and turnover
decreased significantly. However, Petra and her
team utilized their time to concentrate on the new
developments, from which they will benefit in
post-pandemic times.
Petra is motivated to continue and maintain the
company that her parents founded. She feels that
Rohmann GmbH’s success factor lies in its
employees and their commitment, so the personal
and close relationship with employees is crucial to
her.
Initially, she was responsible for product
advertising, trade fairs, and personnel issues. Over
the years, Petra has taken over many more areas,
and she is the sole managing director since 2018.
The Steadfast Leader
After completing school, Petra graduated from
university in graphic design. She used to spend
most of her semester breaks working in her family
business, gaining experience in various
departments. Later in 1992, Petra’s parents
offered her a job in the company.

products.
Driven by Customer Satisfaction
Petra and her team’s strongest drive is the
satisfaction of her firm’s clients. A complete
understanding of customers’ individual
requirements, products, and services are essential
for the entire team to reach the solution. The
company always seeks dialogue and feedback to
meet the increasing customer expectations.
Additionally, Rohmann GmbH has an efficient
quality management system. The firm has also
been certified according to DIN EN 9001 since
1999, proving its capability to meet the highest
international standards.

Preparing for a Better Future
In the next five years, Petra sees herself as a
woman who represents the great team of
Rohmann GmbH to the outside world. She sees
her company and her team continuing to be
successful in their professional field and expects
to be among the top 3 most innovative
companies.
She also adds, “Manage your own strength
and energy to filter out where the effort is
worthwhile and where it is not. And to get
external support if some issues are
difficult.”
Advice for the Young
Petra advises young female entrepreneurs not
to worry too much about gender. She feels it
is essential to show patience in the face of
some demands. She says, “Accept the task
and tackle it; that’s my motto.”
Petra feels she has many challenges, but she
doesn’t mind them as she has her goals
clearly in mind. Petra says, “I also don’t think
about whether the challenges are there
because I am female or if it is for other
reasons. I am a positive person and will

Wendy Pease is Owner and President of Rapport International. A cultural wordsmith, her life’s work is
connecting people around the world by providing culturally adapted translation and interpretation in over 200
languages. She is the author of The Language of Global Marketing: Translate your Domestic Strategies into
International Sales and Profits, host of the Global Marketing Show podcast, and holds a B.A. from Penn
State and an MBA from Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
Global Visionary
Pease grew up in the US, Mexico, Taiwan, and the Philippines, during which time she fell in love with
languages, cultures, diversity, difference. Seventeen years ago, at the crossroads of a continued career in
global marketing, traveling the world with small children at home and the opportunity to buy a small
translation company, she took the plunge into entrepreneurship and never looked back.
Rapport International represents the perfect combination of Pease’s education in foreign service and interna-
tional politics, business experience, and vision of a world where people can truly understand each in an
ever-shrinking, multilingual world. In 2015, Pease acquired a Nebraska-based interpretation company to
round out that vision of “connecting people for a peaceful and prosperous world” via high-quality translation
and interpretation services.
“There’s something intrinsically debilitating about not being understood, not having a voice,” says Pease.
“Our mission is to make each individual heard, to work as a collective in order to empower every person with
agency.”
Pease quickly grew the merged companies by hiring talent from around the world and found that hiring
diverse talent in turn attracts even more talent. The Company’s growth trajectory mirrored its customers’
successes – every ecommerce company transformed into an exporter, every manufacturing company guided
toward a diverse workforce, every life sciences company equipped for multilingual clinical trials grew in
tandem with the language service provider.
“Within every industry we’ve seen translation and interpretation services uncover an entirely uncharted
realm of new business, for companies of all sizes”. A global strategy invariably results in greater stability in
times of economic uncertainty, more revenue, higher wages. We help companies design a global roadmap,
stay in compliance, and grow sales and profits. But most importantly, we connect people to create new
communities.
Local Leader
In business, expectations are high for everyone; for women in the business world, they are arguably higher.
“Embracing that challenge, that strong desire of wanting to be a leader, married with a self-driven work
ethic, works only if it’s authentic,” says Pease. “So many lives rely on us, both at work and at home, and it’s a
mistake to think that we, as business owners, think only of bottom lines and net worth. The extent to which

involved initially came as a
bit of a struggle for me, yet it's
something I’ve seen consistently work
better than a top-down approach, over time
and across genders and industries.”
In 2020, Rapport International worked with a Massachusetts-based manufacturer on a campaign to attract a
qualified workforce for its plant. The plant’s location is surrounded by sizeable Vietnamese, Cambodian, and
Spanish neighborhoods and initial hires proved extraordinarily skillful and reliable. Rapport International
provided language services for hiring and onboarding material, safety and training videos, and interpreters for
both outreach and hiring.

The manufacturer quickly became known throughout the community as an employer that valued its
employees. With translated, culturally adapted information always at hand, what started out as a handful of
non- and limited-English speakers in the company’s talent pool quickly blossomed into a rich, multilingual,
diverse workforce consisting of friends and family members from throughout the immediate community and
beyond. As a neat tradition, whenever a new hire speaks a different language, the company adds its
representative flag to its front door. Today, 14 flags decorate the building.
“Taking a company onto the global stage is only daunting if you don’t have a plan,” says Pease. “And it’s one
of the biggest missed opportunities I see in business today, especially in the US. A
small- or medium-sized company anywhere overseas starts with a
global strategy, they set up shop knowing it will export to other
countries. Such rich diversity here in the US means global
efforts can even start locally, and it’s a valuable means
for understanding high-context cultures before
growing a company internationally.”
A Roadmap to the World
Pease authored The Language of Global
Marketing: Turn your Domestic
Strategies into International Sales and
Profits to provide an easy-to-follow
roadmap for propelling small- and
medium-sized enterprises within
myriad industries onto the global
stage. It outlines strategies for
attracting and managing a
multilingual workforce,
creating a cost-conscious
ecommerce translation
management plan, and
preparing for global growth
from the outset. The process
can be replicated within
vertical industries and
addresses translation and
interpretation, marketing, and
exporting in compliance with
government regulations. You
can find the electronic, audio, or
hard copy on Amazon, Barnes
Noble, or anywhere you buy your
books.

Indiana Gregg Wedo | Founder CEO Adding Value to All Modern Users M eet Indiana Gregg, the founder and CEO of Wedo, a communications and banking services application that allows anyone to set up video and audio chats, take payments in-stream, send and receive invoices money and transact like a global company, without the hassles and costs. 08 08 The 10 Most Powerful Business Women to Watch in 2022. As a techie who has been developing tech for more than 25 years, she has founded five companies and has never been employed. She is a former U.S. national dance champion, was a recording artist as a young single mother of three, and later developed the streaming platform Kerchoonz, which was a music industry first and helped form the basis of the digital music streaming industry. Indiana believes in conscious capitalism that empowers people to do what they love. She has been in the fintech industry for the past decade, and she loves to innovate and develop in this space. The common threads throughout her career have been creativity, problem-solving, and an intense focus and persistence. Going back to the early days, the decision that influenced her the most was having children and the responsibility to provide for them, along with the desire to create a career path where she could grow. Indiana is a curious person, so she is constantly learning and upgrading her “system” and her toolkit of knowledge. It is designed to improve people's lives and level the playing field for small businesses and freelancers everywhere. The best part of Wedo is that businesses of all sizes, including small businesses, freelance consultants, and entrepreneurs with large teams, can benefit from it. The company is fully focused on the seamless tech that empowers its customers. The Wedo team believes that the best way to establish faith and trust is through transparency, honesty, and clear communication. Ensuring a good customer experience, transparent terms, and a fair deal is what people want and need, and it is what the team at Wedo is after. It is a team made up of dedicated multicultural and diverse people who love their work. It starts with the Wedo team and spreads to the outer world. Indiana sums up what they do with this statement: “We are humans helping humans to help more humans.” Tackling Challenges There are always challenges when a company grows from a small unit of people into a larger organization and then onward to scale. The main challenge is to fill roles within the company with people of integrity and the skill sets the company needs for near-term and long-term success. Cultural fit is very important to the team. As an organization, Wedo appreciates a mixture of hard skills and soft skills, but soft skills, in particular, are very important in a diverse team like theirs. The energy of the team is infectious, and as the founder, Indiana wants to keep it that way. Mentor’s Guidance Indiana feels she got where she is today by being true to herself and others and doing the things she loves: growing and leading teams, building things, and creating in general, regardless of the industry. Making a consistent commitment to her education has probably been the best decision she has ever made, as it has given her the freedom and flexibility to pivot in her journey as a creator. She has had several mentors, advisors, and coaches throughout the period who have helped her, nurtured her, taught her, and befriended her. Without them, she wouldn’t be the person she is today. She considers herself lucky in school and university to have had outstanding teachers and professors; amazing men and women who took an interest in her from an early age. She has great parents who believed in her, supported her, and

  • 12. Dr. Angela Butts Chester Pastoral Counsellor | DR ANGELA CHESTER 12 12
  • 13. M The 10 Most Powerful Business Women to Watch in 2022 eet Dr. Angela Butts Chester, is a Pastoral Counselor of New Life Pastoral Counseling. Dr. Chester is a professional speaker, radio and TV host, cancer survivor, and author. She has built a career spanning more than 20 years and thousands of people counselled. She has also served as an Associate Pastor and has built a reputation as a thought leader on issues related to motivation and Christian empowerment. It all started when Dr. Chester was 16. After having a conversation with her Pastor, Dr. Chester shared how she loved helping others find solutions, sharing her faith, but and also teaching the scriptures to empower Christians. Her pastor informed her that was the role of a Pastoral Counsellor. Which eventually fuelled Dr. Chester’s dreams of becoming a Pastoral Counsellor. She then decided to add a podcast to her list. One day, she prayed a simple prayer asking God for the opportunity to be on the radio. Fast forward 5 years, Dr. Chester got a phone call to have her show. After some formalities, she was asked for the name of her show, and she had 24 hours. Daily Spark with Dr. Angela was born. Within a year, Dr. Chester went from a weekly show to a daily show; from one location to three locations. Let’s fast forward again to 2021. She is now on every day except Sunday nationally. Dr. Chester’s show can be found on Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and other streaming platforms. Reaching the Target Audience Dr. Chester understands her audiences are vary between radio and TV yet they both agree that faith and books are important. Each book is as different as the author who wrote it; interviewees include Young Adults to Senior guests, from various backgrounds, ethnicities, and areas of the world. So, branching out to include more genres of books allows Dr. Chester to introduce her show to an even bigger audience. One way she is doing this is by included more Awareness Day events. Dr. Chester and her team are also rolling out in different media outlets, not just traditional sources like cable. Viewers can now watch Daily Spark TV via Roku, Vimeo, Glorystar, or stream online. The radio show naturally airs daily on radio, but viewers can also stream from Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music, TuneIn, and others whenever they like. Offering the shows in traditional ways for Dr. Chester’s mature audience yet making it more mobile for her younger audience. Staying authentic while mindful. Biggest Failure Dr. Chester feels, sharing original ideas with strang- ers while networking was a bad idea. She says, “I was young and didn’t understand the value of an idea. Lesson learned. That experience, however, hasn’t kept me from exploring opportunities to collaborate with awesome groups. I’ve learned to get it all in writing first.” 13 13
  • 14. We shine our light when we walk in purpose. If I shine my light and you shine your light, together, we will illuminate the way for those who cannot see. Together we will bring light to those who are lost “ “ According to Dr. Chester, some people are frightened by the role of leadership – but she is not one of those people. She thinks every good leader should possess vision, humility, commitment, and intentionality. She still remembers when she accepted her award for Daily Spark TV, she not only thanked the viewers but her various teams by name, as well as her family. Mission and Vision Dr. Chester’s tag line is – “to enlighten, inspire and empower you to be your best self.” Her calling in life is to help others to live the best version of themselves. To have the information they need to make informed decisions and live as authentically as possible. She does that by providing a radio show (audio) and tv show (visual) and one-on-one/group (personal/individual attention) sessions. When it comes to leadership styles, Dr. Chester believes the most common words that describe her leadership, would be inspirational, motivational, great coach, supportive, charismatic. She believes in giving actionable information and being supportive without micromanaging. Dr. Chester wears many hats - visionary, influencer, and coach. Understanding what is needed of her in any given situation, she feels is the key. Situational awareness is Dr. Chester’s strongest asset. As someone who helps others understand and honor their faith, servant leadership – putting others first – is also important. Future Roadmap Dr. Chester’s life motto is also her tagline - to “enlighten, inspire and empower.” It reminds her daily ‘why.’ 14 14
  • 15. Looking at the upcoming few years, Dr. Chester looks forward to returning to in-person TV filming for the second half of the year. Due to the pandemic, she and her team have done things remotely, allowing for domestic and international guests to still participate. Dr. Chester’s in-person production is handled by a women-owned company and she is happy to bring them back on board. This also gives the guest an experience both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. For many, this also translates into social media influence and monetization. In-person transitional planning includes conferences, speaking engagements, training, and the like. New team members will be added accordingly. Dr. Chester will continue to provide remote access for these services, especially for international connections. Having been featured in a global luxury lifestyle and business magazine, she wishes to do all it can to continue to work with those from around the world. 15 15

  • 22. Around 2015, when I was still running businesses alongside writing articles for online business publications, I picked up on a shocking report. As an owner of a business scaling-up, I had a sunny outlook on the prospects for female entrepreneurship. were more Daves, Marks, Andrews, and Ians too. Nor was this absurdity restricted to the UK. The New York Times also found more men called John, James, Robert, or William running companies in the US than women. I discovered that women filled only about 23% of boardroom roles at this point. This was less than seven years ago, in this time of so-called equality. By 2018, women in the UK were still only half as likely to start a business as men, and only a third of existing entrepreneurs were women. I have read extensive studies citing several different reasons for the degrees of the gap – not one, incidentally, to do any lack of ability on women's part. Root causes One problem that always comes up is women’s lack of confidence. One study from the University of California found the difference in gender confidence to be considerably higher in the more industrialized countries, which is shocking. It could indicate that the more we evolve as a society, the more women's roles are reversed. Part of the problem lies in disparity within education, particularly in those industrial countries. At home, high percentages of girls are still taught that finances mean balancing the budgets for the home, while boys learn stocks and shares. The education systems do little or nothing to address this inequality, claiming that the teach- ing of finances is a parental responsibility. So, we see inequality perpetuated. STEM education is little better. There is still a much higher involvement from boys in STEM after-school clubs. Later, women in STEM make up a paltry 28% of the workforce. So with women less able to keep pace with the acceleration in STEM industries and having less financial education, they are immediately disadvantaged. And it follows that you will see a reluctance to lean in and an aversion to risks. If that wasn't enough, COVID hit women hard. While childcare costs were often a mammoth issue, over and above that, women were suddenly faced with having no childcare and the necessity of home-schooling. While most previous recessions hurt men's employment worst, this time around, it was the women, with over 30% more likely to be working in sectors that were hit by lockdowns. A McKinsey report showed women’s jobs to be 1:8 times more vulnerable. Entrepreneurs fared little better, with closures higher in women-owned businesses. The IMF warned that COVID threatened to put women's economic gains back by thirty years. 22 22 However, this report identified that there were more men called John leading the UK#39;s most prominent FTSE 100 companies than there were women. My jaw dropped as I read. It wasn#39;t only John – there were more Daves, Marks, Andrews, and Ians too. Nor was this absurdity restricted to the UK. The New York Times also found more men called John, James, Robert, or William running companies in the US than women. I discovered thatwomen filled only about 23% of boardroom roles at this point. This was less than seven years ago, in this time of so-called equality.
  • 23. Small and Micro-Businesses On the positive side, there are 114% more female entrepreneurs in the US than twenty years ago. Many, particu- larly during COVID, started side-hustles to protect their income or balance childcare and working. But there are plenty of full-time entrepreneurs too. There is an enormous amount of money generated by women, which is only expected to grow. According to Ernst and Young's figures, women's global income will increase from £13 trillion to £18 trillion in the next five years. FemTech companies alone are estimated to be worth $50 billion by 2025. Women and Scaling-up Start-ups might look hopeful, but only 1.3 female entrepreneurs own medium to large businesses compared with 3.3% of men. That is a colossal gap, and now we can see where the dominance of men, be they, Dave or John, outnumbering women lies. One problem is, without a doubt, the funding. Whether through confidence or knowledge of the low success rates, a report by Fundera showed only one in four applicants applying for finance were women and that they were asking $35,000 less on average than men, just as women in employment ask for less in their salary raises. Confi- dence has to be a part of that. (CEO) www.jancavelle.com The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor sadly reflected this in November. It showed women as representing only around one in three of the growth-orientated entrepreneurs globally. Only 30.2% of women expected to hire six or more employees in the next five years compared to 48% of men. 23 23 The 10 Most Powerful Business Women to Watch in 2022
  • 24. Instead of things at least inching forward, the percentage of VC Deals that went to female-led start-ups actually declined in 2020 in the US, drop- ping from the already ridiculous 2.8% to 2.3%. who run investment funds. Daves outnumbered all women by 68 to 45. Even more shockingly, only 7.2 percent of UK-domiciled funds were managed by women. Yet – and this is how truly ridiculous this state of affairs is - when women get the money, they are much more likely to pay it back with dividends. A Boston Consulting group analysis placed this figure as no less than twice per dollar invested. The future I do believe that women-owned businesses and the money in the sector will grow massively. Automation is barely hitting the workforce yet, but job losses will become more and more severe, and women will be forced into considering alternative ways of making a living, either for themselves, in addition to, or on behalf of a partner. Many more will do so by choice. There is no doubt that in the world of scale-up, however, women have a long road to go. COVID has made this road longer, with fewer women already on the way up or as role models to follow. The shrinkage of allocated funding will also make things worse. The Elizabeth Holmes trial has done nothing to help women’s cause, picked over in a way that would never have happened had she been a man. In Silicon Valley, the men have been faking it till they made it for decades. The economy and the world suffer without equal- ity. There are no grounds to suggest that women are less able. We need to see it happen. To ensure it, we have to tackle equality of educa- tion in STEM and Finance. We have to destroy the old boys' network in the financial sector and, above all, give women the confidence to believe that they are just as capable of growing business- es as their male counterparts. Currently, wom- en's entrepreneurship seems to be going back- ward, and we have to stem that tide. We know diversity gets the best results. The economy and the world need women entrepreneurs more than ever before. We need to ensure this happens. Investment has always been an “old-boys” network. In the UK, in 2021, Morningstar ran a study of Men called Dave viz v number of women for the people who run investment funds. Daves outnumbered all women by 68 to 45. Even more shockingly, only 7.2 percent of UK-domiciled funds were managed by women. 24 24

  • 27. Tackling Challenges Since the first quarter of 2020, we saw the emergence of the pandemic, which eventually led to millions of deaths and job losses across the world. And just like its competitors, Rohmann GmbH also took the brunt of the pandemic. The order situation was weaker, and turnover decreased significantly. However, Petra and her team utilized their time to concentrate on the new developments, from which they will benefit in post-pandemic times. Petra is motivated to continue and maintain the company that her parents founded. She feels that Rohmann GmbH’s success factor lies in its employees and their commitment, so the personal and close relationship with employees is crucial to her. Initially, she was responsible for product advertising, trade fairs, and personnel issues. Over the years, Petra has taken over many more areas, and she is the sole managing director since 2018. She sees her company and her team continuing to be successful in their professional field and expects to be among the top 3 most innovative companies. She also adds, “Manage your own strength and energy to filter out where the effort is worthwhile and where it is not. And to get external support if some issues are difficult.” Advice for the Young Petra advises young female entrepreneurs not to worry too much about gender. She feels it is essential to show patience in the face of some demands. She says, “Accept the task and tackle it; that’s my motto.” Petra feels she has many challenges, but she doesn’t mind them as she has her goals clearly in mind. Petra says, “I also don’t think about whether the challenges are there because I am female or if it is for other reasons. A cultural wordsmith, her life’s work is connecting people around the world by providing culturally adapted translation and interpretation in over 200 languages. She is the author of The Language of Global Marketing: Translate your Domestic Strategies into International Sales and Profits, host of the Global Marketing Show podcast, and holds a B.A. from Penn State and an MBA from Tuck School at Dartmouth College. Global Visionary Pease grew up in the US, Mexico, Taiwan, and the Philippines, during which time she fell in love with languages, cultures, diversity, difference. Seventeen years ago, at the crossroads of a continued career in global marketing, traveling the world with small children at home and the opportunity to buy a small translation company, she took the plunge into entrepreneurship and never looked back. Rapport International represents the perfect combination of Pease’s education in foreign service and interna- tional politics, business experience, and vision of a world where people can truly understand each in an ever-shrinking, multilingual world. In 2015, Pease acquired a Nebraska-based interpretation company to round out that vision of “connecting people for a peaceful and prosperous world” via high-quality translation and interpretation services. “There’s something intrinsically debilitating about not being understood, not having a voice,” says Pease. “Our mission is to make each individual heard, to work as a collective in order to empower every person with agency.” Pease quickly grew the merged companies by hiring talent from around the world and found that hiring diverse talent in turn attracts even more talent. The Company’s growth trajectory mirrored its customers’ successes – every ecommerce company transformed into an exporter, every manufacturing company guided toward a diverse workforce, every life sciences company equipped for multilingual clinical trials grew in tandem with the language service provider. “Within every industry we’ve seen translation and interpretation services uncover an entirely uncharted realm of new business, for companies of all sizes”. A global strategy invariably results in greater stability in times of economic uncertainty, more revenue, higher wages. We help companies design a global roadmap, stay in compliance, and grow sales and profits. But most importantly, we connect people to create new communities. Local Leader In business, expectations are high for everyone; for women in the business world, they are arguably higher. “Embracing that challenge, that strong desire of wanting to be a leader, married with a self-driven work ethic, works only if it’s authentic,” says Pease. “So many lives rely on us, both at work and at home, and it’s a mistake to think that we, as business owners, think only of bottom lines and net worth. The plant’s location is surrounded by sizeable Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Spanish neighborhoods and initial hires proved extraordinarily skillful and reliable. Rapport International provided language services for hiring and onboarding material, safety and training videos, and interpreters for both outreach and hiring. With translated, culturally adapted information always at hand, what started out as a handful of non- and limited-English speakers in the company’s talent pool quickly blossomed into a rich, multilingual, diverse workforce consisting of friends and family members from throughout the immediate community and beyond. As a neat tradition, whenever a new hire speaks a different language, the company adds its representative flag to its front door. Today, 14 flags decorate the building. “Taking a company onto the global stage is only daunting if you don’t have a plan,” says Pease. “And it’s one of the biggest missed opportunities I see in business today, especially in the US. A small- or medium-sized company anywhere overseas starts with a global strategy, they set up shop knowing it will export to other countries. Such rich diversity here in the US means global efforts can even start locally, and it’s a valuable means for understanding high-context cultures before growing a company internationally.” A Roadmap to the World Pease authored The Language of Global Marketing: Turn your Domestic Strategies into International Sales and Profits to provide an easy-to-follow roadmap for propelling small- and medium-sized enterprises within myriad industries onto the global stage. It outlines strategies for attracting and managing a multilingual workforce, creating a cost-conscious ecommerce translation management plan, and preparing for global growth from the outset. The process can be replicated within vertical industries and addresses translation and interpretation, marketing, and exporting in compliance with government regulations.
