3. What is Dowry System ?
• Dowry means “gifts given by the parents at the time of
marriage”.
• This is the symbol of “love and respect”.
• It is the help of girl so that she may set up her home.
• But with the passage of time of sense of dowry is
changed.

• The practice of giving dowry is not part of Islam but Islam
does not stop a father from giving his daughter gifts
money or property and arranging for a wedding feast but
should not demanding at exploitation from bride's father
• The holy prophet (P.B.U.H) himself of the saw to the
marriage of his four daughter. He gave his daughter
Hazrat Fatima(R.A) various gifts when she married
Hazrat Ali(R.A) but there is no record of his having given
anything to his other daughter on the occasion of their
marriage.
