MEASURES OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION IS GLOBAL PROBLEM OF DEVELOPED AND
DEVELOPING COUNTRIES.THE EFFORT ARE BEING MADE AT ALL LEVEL TO
MAINTAIN THE QUALITY OF ENVIRONMENT.THE FOLLOWING ARE MAIN
MEASURES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION:

SANCTUARIES.

5. EDUCATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
WORLD CONSERVATION STRATEGY (WCS)
UN CONFERENCE AT STOCKHOLM(SWEDEN) ON ENVIRONMENT IN 1972
FOCUSED THE ATTENTION OF INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY ON
ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS.THE LATE PRIME MINISTER, SMT. INDIRA GANDHI
PLAYED A VITAL ROLE IN THIA CONFERENCE.SHE HAD TAKEN INITIATIVE AND
COME FORWARD WITH A DEFINITE PROGRAMME ON ENVIRONMENTAL
CONSERVATION.
WORLD WIDE FUND(WWF) AND UNITED NATION ENVIRONMENT
PROGRAMME(UNEP) PREPARED A WORLD CONSERVATION STRATEGY(WCS)
AND RELEASED FOR ADOPTION AND IMPLEMENTATION IN INDIA ON MARCH 5,
1980.
OBJECTIVES OF WCS
 DEFINING CLEARLY THE CONCEPTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
 IDENTIFYING THE UNIVERSALLY RECOGNIZED AREAS WHICH HAS
THREATENED LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS
 TO PRESERVE GENETIC DIVERSITY
 TO PURPOSE NATIONAL AND SUB-NATIONAL STRATEGY
 TO RECOMMENED GREATER PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
 PROVIDE FRAMEWORK FOR EVOLVING NCS BY DIFFERENT COUNTRIES
 TO ENSURE SUSTAINABLE UTILIZATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND
ECO SYSTEM
NATIONAL CONSERVATION STRATEGY(NCS)
IN 1988 UNDER THE CHAIRMENSHIP OF M.S.SWAMINATHAN, A CORE COMMITTEE
WAS CONSTITUTED.
THE COMMITTEE DECIDED THAT THE STATE GOVERNMENTS WILL BE ARGUED TO
FORMULATE CONSERVATION STRATEGIES AT THE STATE LEVEL WITHIN THE BROAD
FRAMEWORK OE NCS.
INITIATION OF NCS TAKE PLACE AT THE TIME OF THE SIXTH FIVE YEAR PLAN.
BIOSPHERE RESERVES PROGRAMME IS THE OUTCOME OF THE NCS.
NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION AND VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION CAN ALSO
CONNECT WITH NCS.
INDOOR ENVIRONMENT
A HOME HAS MANY SUCH MATERIALS AND
APPLIANCES WHICH CAUSE POLLUTION OF
THE ENVIRONMENT AND IT AFFECTS OUR
HEALTH BADLY BUT MOST OF THE PEOPLE
AMONGEST US ARE IGNORANT OF THIS FACT.
CAUSE OF POLLUTION OF INDOOR ENVIRONMENT
1. MICA, PLYWOOD AND THE CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES ARE HARMFUL.
2. SOIL, LIME, WOOD, CONCRETE, IRON, CEMENT ETC ARE USED IN THE
BUILDING OF THE HOUSE BUT ALL THESE POLLUTE THE
ENVIRONMENT.
3. NOWADAYS THE POLYTHENE AND PLASTIC ITEMS HAVE BECOME VERY
MUCH IN USE AND THESE POLLUTE THE AIR AND SOIL OF HOME.
4. WHEN THE CHLORINATED WATER IS BOILED, THEN CHLOROFORM IS
MADE FROM IT WHICH CAUSES SUFFOCATION SO MUCH SO THAT EVEN
THE DEATH MAY OCCUR.
SUGGESTIONS FOR INDOOR
ENVIRONMENT
1. IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOUSE, CHEMICAL ITEMS
SHOULD NO TBE USED.
2. THE ELECTRIC TOOLS IN THE HOUSE SHOULD BE USED
ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFIED DIRECTIONS.
3. TRADITIONAL FUEL SHOULD NOT BE USED.
4. SOLAR ENERGY SHOULD BE ENCURAGED IN THE HOMES.
5. A.C. , COOLERS, HEATER, ETC. SHOULD BE USED LESS IN
THE HOME.

MEASURES OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION IS GLOBAL PROBLEM OF DEVELOPED AND DEVELOPING COUNTRIES.THE EFFORT ARE BEING MADE AT ALL LEVEL TO MAINTAIN THE QUALITY OF ENVIRONMENT.THE FOLLOWING ARE MAIN MEASURES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION: 1. AN IDEAL SYSTEM FOR GENETIC RESOURCES e.g. NATURAL PARK AND SANCTUARIES. 2. WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION 3. INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION AN ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION 4. WORLD CONSERVATION STRATEGY (WCS) UN CONFERENCE AT STOCKHOLM(SWEDEN) ON ENVIRONMENT IN 1972 FOCUSED THE ATTENTION OF INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY ON ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS.THE LATE PRIME MINISTER, SMT. INDIRA GANDHI PLAYED A VITAL ROLE IN THIA CONFERENCE.SHE HAD TAKEN INITIATIVE AND COME FORWARD WITH A DEFINITE PROGRAMME ON ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION. WORLD WIDE FUND(WWF) AND UNITED NATION ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMME(UNEP) PREPARED A WORLD CONSERVATION STRATEGY(WCS) AND RELEASED FOR ADOPTION AND IMPLEMENTATION IN INDIA ON MARCH 5, 1980.

OBJECTIVES OF WCS  DEFINING CLEARLY THE CONCEPTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION  IDENTIFYING THE UNIVERSALLY RECOGNIZED AREAS WHICH HAS THREATENED LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS  TO PRESERVE GENETIC DIVERSITY  TO PURPOSE NATIONAL AND SUB-NATIONAL STRATEGY  TO RECOMMENED GREATER PUBLIC PARTICIPATION  PROVIDE FRAMEWORK FOR EVOLVING NCS BY DIFFERENT COUNTRIES  TO ENSURE SUSTAINABLE UTILIZATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND ECO SYSTEM
  • 5. NATIONAL CONSERVATION STRATEGY(NCS) IN 1988 UNDER THE CHAIRMENSHIP OF M.S.SWAMINATHAN, A CORE COMMITTEE WAS CONSTITUTED. THE COMMITTEE DECIDED THAT THE STATE GOVERNMENTS WILL BE ARGUED TO FORMULATE CONSERVATION STRATEGIES AT THE STATE LEVEL WITHIN THE BROAD FRAMEWORK OE NCS. INITIATION OF NCS TAKE PLACE AT THE TIME OF THE SIXTH FIVE YEAR PLAN. BIOSPHERE RESERVES PROGRAMME IS THE OUTCOME OF THE NCS. NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION AND VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION CAN ALSO CONNECT WITH NCS.
  • 6. INDOOR ENVIRONMENT A HOME HAS MANY SUCH MATERIALS AND APPLIANCES WHICH CAUSE POLLUTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND IT AFFECTS OUR HEALTH BADLY BUT MOST OF THE PEOPLE AMONGEST US ARE IGNORANT OF THIS FACT.
  • 7. CAUSE OF POLLUTION OF INDOOR ENVIRONMENT 1. MICA, PLYWOOD AND THE CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES ARE HARMFUL. 2. SOIL, LIME, WOOD, CONCRETE, IRON, CEMENT ETC ARE USED IN THE BUILDING OF THE HOUSE BUT ALL THESE POLLUTE THE ENVIRONMENT. 3. NOWADAYS THE POLYTHENE AND PLASTIC ITEMS HAVE BECOME VERY MUCH IN USE AND THESE POLLUTE THE AIR AND SOIL OF HOME. 4. WHEN THE CHLORINATED WATER IS BOILED, THEN CHLOROFORM IS MADE FROM IT WHICH CAUSES SUFFOCATION SO MUCH SO THAT EVEN THE DEATH MAY OCCUR.
  • 8. SUGGESTIONS FOR INDOOR ENVIRONMENT 1. IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOUSE, CHEMICAL ITEMS SHOULD NO TBE USED. 2. THE ELECTRIC TOOLS IN THE HOUSE SHOULD BE USED ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFIED DIRECTIONS. 3. TRADITIONAL FUEL SHOULD NOT BE USED. 4. SOLAR ENERGY SHOULD BE ENCURAGED IN THE HOMES. 5. A.C. , COOLERS, HEATER, ETC. SHOULD BE USED LESS IN THE HOME.
