This document presents a project report on developing a system for conditioning, monitoring, and booking gas cylinders. The system aims to detect LPG gas leaks, continuously monitor the weight of gas cylinders using a load cell, and automatically book a new cylinder through an IFTTT application when the gas level reaches a threshold. The system components include a Node MCU microcontroller interfaced with an MQ-2 gas sensor for leak detection, load cell and HX711 amplifier to monitor cylinder weight, buzzer for alarms, and IFTTT application for automatic cylinder booking. The system provides safety against gas explosions and ensures timely replacement of cylinders.

3. Introduction
Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is currently the most used gas in our home for
cooking purposes. LPG gas is a flammable gas, if leaked it can cause major
damage to life and property. Therefore it should be used in safe handling
manner and additional care has to be taken in order to prevent any leakage
possible. The main features of LPG is that being heavier that air, it does not
disperse easily and may lead to suffocation when inhaled. The leaked gases
when ignited may lead to explosion. The number of deaths due to the
explosion of gas cylinder has been increasing in recent years. Nowadays people
are having very busy schedule that they forget to turn off the burner which may
also could lead to damages. Our proposed topic aims at detection of gas
leakage and monitor the weight of the gas cylinder also books the new cylinder
using IFTTT. The smart gas system which provides home safety, detects the
leakage of the LPG and books the cylinder using IFTTT app through Internet of
Things(IOT). The additional advantage of the system is that it continuously
monitors the weight of the cylinder using load cell and if the gas level reaches
below the threshold limit of gas so that the user can replace the old cylinder
with new in time by automatically books the cylinder.
4. Problem Statement
Gas leakage leads to various causality resulting into both
financial loss as well as human life. It is not possible to
employ an human always for keeping watch on the gas
regulator to avoid accidents. So the leakage of this gas have
to detect to avoid unnecessary explosions. To avoid such
situations, a considerable amount of effort has been
devoted to the development of reliable techniques for
detecting gas leakage. Our aim is reduce the risks in
kitchen.
5. Objective
The main aim of our project is to prevent explosions
and provide safety. In our system sensors are used to
detect the leakage in kitchen also the weight of the gas
cylinder is monitored continuously with the help of
load cell. A new cylinder is also booked automatically
using IFTTT application.
7. Explanation
The proposed system consist of the node MCU it is inter faced to
sensor like MQ2 sensor, Load cell and HX711 Amplifier etc.
The proposed method takes on automatic control action upon
direction of gas.
Initial of there is a gas leakage then the electronic sensor that
obeys the principle of LPG senses any gas leakage from cylinder.
If any gas leakage sensed then the output of this sensor
goes high. This high signal is monitored by node MCU.
In this system, a load cell is used to monitor the weight of
the gas cylinder, if it goes below a critical value the sensor
sense this condition and sends a notification via IFTTT
App. To gas agency for booking LPG.
9. Components
Node MCU:
Node MCU is an open source IOT platform
It includes firmware which runs on the ESP8266 Wi-Fi soc.
ESP8266 is a low cost, WI-Fi module chip that can be
configured to connect to the internet for Internet of
Things(IOT)
10. Smoke Sensor MQ-2:
The smoke sensor detects combustible gases and smoke
This module is useful for gas leakage detection.
Due to its high sensitivity and fast response time, measurements can
be taken as soon as possible.
11. 16*2 LCD Display:
It is called as 16*2 LCD display because it consists of two rows
and each row can print 16 characters.
Each character is build by a 5*8 pixel box.
Operating voltage is 4.7v to 5.3v
Available is Green and Blue Backlight.
12. Load Cell:
A load cell is a type of transducer, specially a force transducer.
They convert a force such as tension, compression, pressure or
torque into an electrical signal that can be measured and
standardized.
13. HX711 Amplifier:
The load cell amplifier is a small board for the HX711 IC
that allows you to easily read load cell to measure weight.
14. Buzzer
A buzzer is a small yet efficient component to add sound
features to our project/system.
It is very small and compact 2-pin structure hence can
be easily used
It is as alarming Circuits, where the user has to be
alarmed about something
15. IFTTT Application
IFTTT derives its name from the programming
conditional statement “If This, Then That”.
16. Advantages
Detection and prevention of any sort of gas leakage.
Cost efficient
Less complex circuit
No environmental effect or no effect of physical
conditions.
It is used in house as LPG gas leakage, which
reduce the huge loss of property and life.
18. Future Scope
As no system is perfect, neither is this one. So it
leaves us with the further scope of improvement.
This system only detects the leakage present at gas
cylinder in further improvement we make a system
that detects leakage present in pipeline.
19. Conclusion
The propose of this system is to provide safe, reliable,
simple and cost effective LPG leakage detection system.
The components which we are going to use are cost
effective and easily available in the market
By using this system the destruction occurring due
to gas leakage accidents are avoided.
