- March 2013: NSW State Government announced an amnesty on recreational fishing in coastal sanctuaries Dive stores united – urging the Premier to reinstate marine sanctuary protections Project AWARE empowered dive store owners to meet with their local MPs to demonstrate the importance of protected areas ensuring a healthy and abundant ocean planet Polling commissioned by the Dive Industry Association of Australia New Federal Government announced – suspension and review the National Network of Marine Reserves Less than 1% of each of the marine regions in Australia is currently protected The suspension of the National Network of Marine Reserves leaves the new marine parks out of operation Work continues with Save Our Marine Life Partners to ensure there is no loss in marine sanctuary protection during the review of the National Network
