[The problem]
Is local history doomed – to be boring, to be reactionary, to be a tool of ongoing colonialism, and is it doomed to be locked in local history rooms in libraries?
[Identifying the problem and possible solutions]
Engaging the senses. Take local history out of the library. Make it grounded and interactive.
[Context]
So, lets look at this a bit more. The City of Moreland is a local government area in the inner north-west that covers the Melbourne suburbs of Brunswick, Coburg, Pascoe Vale (named after one of the chief invaders of Kulin territory, John Pascoe Fawkner), Glenroy and Fawkner (yep, that’s him again).
[Context]
The suburbs that make up Moreland have a proud history of working-class organising and activism.
