- but then there’s 1%
- That sparks your attention

- A failed app
- A blue screen
- A late meal
- A broken zipper
- These products suck
- But then, then there’s 1% of the 1%
- That’s 0.01% of all products you ever use and come across
- A small exclusive club
- A club of pure products
- Pure products make you go wow
- They make you feel awesome
- They make you want to sing
- To Play
- To Jump
- To Shout
- And most importantly, they make you want to tell someone
- They all have 2 things in common
- Firstly they’re simple
- Super simple
- Like as simple as him
- Like so incredibly simple, they’re ‘fool proof’
- Idiot proof
- Or Child proof
- They’re not simple because they lack complexity
- Or because they ignore the complexity
- They fear that complexity
- And, They hump the hell out of complexity
- Until they’ve mastered it.
- They have it entirely under control
- Is pure
- Sweet
- unadulterated
- Profound
- Simplicity
- The second thing pure products have in common is beauty
- They’re beautiful
- They make you feel different
- Feel special
- Feel addicted
- It is beauty that sets apart the simple from pure
- And creating beautiful products starts with one thing
- A question
- Something you should ask yourself at every stage of development
- A question that will set your product apart from your competitors
- Set you apart from other product managers
- IS IT BEAUTIFUL?
- The answer no is not acceptable
- For pure products the answer yes
- Yes
- Yes
- Because it is their beauty that makes them pure
- And so go back to your offices
- Talk to your teams
- Speak to your leaders
