QE Intra-Day Movement
Qatar Commentary
The QE index declined 0.1% to close at 9,363.1. Losses were led by the
Industrials and Transportation indices, declining 0.4% and 0.2% respectively.
Top losers were Mannai Corp. and Qatar & Oman Investment Co., falling 3.4%
and 2.6% respectively. Among the top gainers, Salam International Investment
Co. rose 4.6%, while Barwa Real Estate Co. gained 2.6%.
GCC Commentary
Saudi Arabia: The TASI index gained 0.6% to close at 7,717.3. Gains were
led by the Agriculture & Food Industries and Cement indices, rising 1.5% and
1.0% respectively. Gulf Union Cooperative Insurance Co. rose 7.6%, while The
National Co. for Glass Industries was up 5.6%.
Dubai: The DFM index rose 0.7% to close at 2,280.3. The Services index
gained 2.2%, while the Transportation index was up 2.1%. Emirates NBD rose
4.3%, while Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. was up 3.6%.
Abu Dhabi: The ADX benchmark index gained 0.5% to close at 3,580.9. The
Telecommunication index rose 1.3%, while the Banking index was up 0.6%.
Finance House surged 14.9%, while Union Cement Co. gained 10.5%.
Kuwait: The KSE index rose 0.3% to close at 7,986.3. Gains were led by the
Consumer Goods and Insurance indices, gaining 2.8% and 2.2% respectively.
Palms Agro Production Co. rose 13.3%, while Sokouk Holding Co. was up
7.9%.
Oman: The MSM index gained 0.1% to close at 6,447.2. The Industrial index
rose 0.6%, while the Services & Insurance index was up 0.1%. National
Aluminum Products gained 7.5%, while Sharqiyah Desalination was up 3.9%.

Qatar Market Commentary
 The QE index declined 0.1% to close at 9,363.1. The Industrials
and Transportation indices led the losses. The index declined on
the back of selling pressure from non-Qatari shareholders
despite buying support from Qatari shareholders.
 Mannai Corp. and Qatar & Oman Investment Co. were the top
losers, falling 3.4% and 2.6% respectively. Among the top
gainers, Salam International Investment Co. rose 4.6%, while
Barwa Real Estate Co. gained 2.6%.
 Volume of shares traded on Sunday rose by 86.8% to 5.4mn
from 2.9mn on Thursday. However, as compared to the 30-day
moving average of 10.5mn, volume for the day was 48.5% lower.
Salam International Investment Co. and Qatar Gas Transport
Co. were the most active stocks, contributing 23.0% and 17.6%
to the total volume respectively.

Qatar
 Ashghal awards school contracts worth QR2bn – The Public
Works Authority (Ashghal) has awarded contracts worth around
QR2bn for the construction of 44 new schools (including 15
kindergartens) across the country. Ashghal President Nasser Ali
al-Mawlawi said eight companies were awarded the 11 contracts
with a 4Q2014 deadline to complete the projects. Meanwhile,
Ashghal has floated a design & build tender for West Bay car
park close to its headquarters in Doha. This tender comes with a
QR1.9mn bid bond and QR3,000 fee with a closing date of
September 3 (Gulf-Times.com, Qatar-Tribune.com)
 QNB Group announces HE Ali Shareef Al-Emadi as its BoD
chairman – The QNB Group announced that HE Minister of
Finance Ali Shareef Al-Emadi has been appointed as the
Chairman of its board of directors. (QE)
 Qatar real estate deals grew 20.5% YoY in June – Real estate
transactions in Qatar grew 20.5% YoY to QR4.1bn in June
2013. The total number of transactions in the country in June
stood at 856 as compared to 669 in June 2012. The number of
vacant and undeveloped plots registered in June 2013 stood at
664 with a value of QR1.1bn compared with 444 transactions
worth QR2.1bn in June 2012. The villa segment recorded 176
transactions worth QR0.9bn in June as compared to 193
transactions worth QR0.8bn in June 2012. Around 14
transactions worth QR198mn were seen in the buildings
segment in June compared with 20 (worth QR212mn) in June
2012. Meanwhile, residential complexes did not register any
transactions in June, while seven transactions were seen in this

 QE announces Ramadan business hours – The Qatar
Exchange (QE) announced that its official business hours during
the holy month of Ramadan will be from 8.30am to 1.30pm,
Sunday through Thursday. However, the trading hours will
remain unchanged, from 9.30am to 1.15pm. The pre-opening
session will begin at 9am and end at 9.30am. Settlement and
DvP service timings will also remain unchanged. (QE)
 Argentina to get LNG spot cargo from Qatar – Argentina is
scheduled to receive a spot cargo of LNG fuel from Qatar. The
Golar Arctic tanker, with a capacity of about 138,000 cubic
meters, is preparing to dock at the port of Bahia Blanca,
southwest of Buenos Aires. The tanker was loaded with its
cargo at Qatar's Ras Laffan LNG terminal and departed on June

 Oman CMA approves country‟s first Sukuk for Tilal
Development Co. (40% QIA owned) – The Capital Market
Authority (CMA) of Oman has approved the country‘s first
corporate Sukuk to be issued by Tilal Development Company.
The five-year OMR50mn deal will be privately placed and is
expected to close by August. In May 2013, the Sukuk‘s
arrangers, Al Madina Financial & Investment Services, had
submitted its proposal for the issuance to the CMA. The paper,
which received a provisional rating of ‗omBBB+‘ with a stable
outlook by Capital Intelligence in April, will be structured as a
Sukuk Ijarah, holding a 5% profit rate. Proceeds from the
issuance will be used to repay the issuer‘s existing debt and to

fund the expansion of the Muscat Grand Mall. Tilal, which is
40% owned by the Qatari Investment Authority, a sovereign
wealth fund, has been said to attract domestic investors,
insurance companies and pension funds for its upcoming

 SIIS to disclose its 1H2013 financials on July 31 – Salam
International Company (SIIS) announced that it will disclose its
reviewed financial results for the period ending June 30, 2013
on July 31, 2013. (QE)

 Lagarde: US budget cuts inappropriate; may trim global
growth forecast – The IMF Chief Christine Lagarde said cuts in
the US federal budget are inappropriate, which will weigh down
on potential growth. Lagarde urged the US as well as Japan to
come up with fresh plans to reduce their debt. Meanwhile, she
also said the IMF may trim its global growth forecast this week
because of the weak economic situation in emerging countries.
Referring to the IMF‘s forecast for the global economy in 2013,
Lagarde said it had a projected a growth of about 3.3%.

 Japan bank lending hits four-year high as BoJ pumps
money – Bank lending in Japan in June 2013 marked its biggest
annual increase in four years, suggesting the central bank's
aggressive monetary stimulus and brightening economic
prospects are spurring fund demand for fresh investment.
Outstanding loans held by Japanese banks rose 1.9% YoY in
June, marking the 20th straight month of steady increase and
the biggest gain since July 2009. (Reuters)

 E&Y: Nine IPOs in MENA raise $482.6mn in 2Q2013 –
According to an update of E&Y, IPO value in the MENA region
dropped in 2Q2013 with nine deals raising just $482.6mn as
compared to $1.6bn raised in 1Q2013. E&Y said 1Q2013
experienced the highest amount of capital raised through IPOs
in the MENA region in a single quarter since 2008. E&Y found
the total capital raised in MENA IPO markets reached $2.1bn in
1H2013, which is 52% higher when compared with the $1.4bn
raised in 1H2012. (AME Info)
 Saudi FM writes off SR1.8bn loans by Saudi nationals –
Saudi Finance Ministry said that it has written off loans worth
SR1.8bn pending with 20,792 Saudi nationals. This move
follows the ruler King Abdullah‘s directives to exempt all
deceased citizens from paying their dues to state-owned funds.
The Real Estate Development Fund (REDF) has written off the
largest amount (SR1.2bn) owed by 8,259 people, while the
Agricultural Development Fund has written off SR473mn loans
lent to 7,076 persons. The Saudi Credit Bank has written off
SR120.3mn loans taken by 5,457 people. (GulfBase.com)
 Bank Albilad‟s net profit rises 14.7% in 2Q2013 – Bank
Albilad has reported a net profit of SR176mn in 2Q2013,
reflecting a YoY increase of 14.7%. However, the bank‘s net
profit declined by 52.1% YoY in 1H2013 to SR318.4mn. EPS
stood at SR0.80 in 1H2013 as compared to SR1.66 in 1H2012.
Total assets at the end of June 2013 stood at SR33.3bn, 14.8%
higher as compared with June 30, 2012. Loans & advances
were up by 25.3% to SR20.3bn, while customer deposits rose
by 13.6% to SR26.8bn. (Tadawul)
 Alinma Bank reports SR241mn net profit in 2Q2013 – Alinma
Bank has reported a net profit of SR241mn in 2Q2013, reflecting
a YoY increase of 34.6%. Further, the bank‘s net profit rose by
40.3% YoY in 1H2013 to SR463mn. EPS stood at SR0.31 in
1H2013 as compared to SR0.22 in 1H2012. Total assets at the
end of June 2013 stood at SR57.9bn, which is 31.1% higher as
compared with June 30, 2012. Loans & advances increased by
38.4% to SR41.6bn, while customer deposits rose by 40.5% to

 Makkah metro project to start in 2014 – Makkah Mayor
Osama Al-Bar said the city has launched a new SR62bn
Makkah public transport system that will include a metro with
four lines, 88 stations and a fast bus service network. He also
said that the first phase of the project, costing around SR25.5bn,
would begin by the middle of 2014 and will be completed in

 STC further expands FTTH coverage – The Saudi Telecom
Company (STC) has expanded its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH)
network to connect over 600,000 locations to the nationwide
fiber optic network, which has reached a total length of 6,000

 Sabuco awards SR1.1bn butanol plant contract to Daelim –
Saudi Butanol Company (Sabuco) has awarded a SR1.1bn
contract to build a butanol plant to South Korea-based Daelim
Construction. The plant‘s construction is set to start in January
2014 in Jubail Industrial City and is expected to be completed by
May 2015. The plant will have a capacity of 330,000 tons a year
of n-butanol and 11,000 tons a year of iso-butanol. (Tadawul)
 SAAC considers its Indian unit AFIIL “sick”, may dispose
AFIIL – Saudi Arabian Amiantit Company (SAAC) has
announced that its subsidiary in India, Amiantit Fiberglas
Industries India Limited (AFIIL) has been declared ―sick‖ as its
accumulated losses for FY2013 have exceeded its net worth.
SAAC is determined to cease or dispose of non-viable
operations that could hamper the results of the group. SAAC
has fully impaired its remaining investment and receivables on
AFIIL over 2Q2013, whose impact is being estimated at

 SAICO gets SAMA approval to renew permit practicing
insurance activity – Saudi Arabian Cooperative Insurance
Company (SAICO) has obtained approval from the Saudi
Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) to renew its declaration to
conduct insurance business in the Kingdom. (Tadawul)
 Al Hokair signs new hotel deal with Hilton Worldwide – Al
Hokair Group has signed a new deal with Hilton Worldwide, for
Hilton‘s fourth hotel in Saudi Arabia's industrial Eastern
Province. This hotel is expected to be rebranded as
‗DoubleTree‘ by Hilton Dhahran by the end of 2013. (AME Info)
 SAFCO‟s BoD recommends SR2bn dividend for 1H2013 –
The Saudi Arabia Fertilizers Company‘s (SAFCO) board of
directors has recommended the distribution of dividends
amounting to SR2bn (SR6 per share ), representing 60% of the
face value, to its shareholders for 1H2013. (Tadawul)
 Emirates Energy Star aims 100,000 buildings in 5 years to
reduce carbon footprint – The UAE‘s national energy
efficiency program, Emirates Energy Star (EES) is planning to
target 100,000 buildings in five years to reduce the carbon
footprint of the UAE. The EES solution aims to reduce energy
consumption in existing facilities and infrastructure across the
UAE by monitoring real-time performance data of existing
energy consuming equipment on a continuous basis and

 Tamweel shareholders approve delisting of shares from
DFM – Dubai-based Tamweel's shareholders have approved
the company's delisting from the Dubai stock exchange, paving
the way for its acquisition by the Dubai Islamic Bank. Tamweel's
delisting follows the completion of the requirement, wherein the

majority of Tamweel's shareholders accepted the Dubai Islamic
Bank's tender offer to acquire the remaining shares. (DFM,

 QE2 to spend $90mn on ocean liner to convert it into luxury
hotel – Dubai-based QE2 Shipping Company‘s Chairman
Khamis Juma Buamim said the company will spend another
$90mn to refurbish the newly acquired ocean liner QE2 before it
steams out of the Emirate in October to be moored in Asia as a
400-room luxury hotel. (Reuters)
 ADIB arranges AED1.3bn syndicated Islamic financing for
GMS – Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has closed an AED1.3bn
syndicated Islamic facility for Abu Dhabi-based Gulf Marine
Services (GMS). ADIB has acted as the mandated lead
arranger, sole underwriter, book-runner, investment and security

 Ajman Free Zone opens offices abroad to expand its global
reach – Ajman Free Zone Authority is expanding its global
reach to reach out to potential overseas customers by partnering
with entities as well as opening its own offices in the key

 Agility to participate in KHAC‟s stake auction – The Public
Warehousing Company (Agility) will be participating in an
auction to acquire 26% stake in the Kuwait Health Assurance

 URC sells assets in Kuwait, Qatar to gain $9.8mn profit –
The United Real Estate Company (URC) has sold-off 10 of its
plots in the Mubarakiya area, Kuwait, and some of its plots in
Entertainment City, Qatar. The total value for these two cash
transactions was worth KD13.4mn, garnering a combined net
profit of KD2.8mn for URC. (AME Info)
 Jazeera Airways boosts summer schedule with 61 flights –
Jazeera Airways announced that it is adding 61 new flights to its
summer schedule to boost frequencies on routes to Jeddah,
Dubai, Amman, Luxor, Assiut, Sohag, Al Najaf and Mashhad.

 NRC‟s registration process under way – The Minister of
Transport & Communications Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al
Futaisi said the proposed National Railway Company is in the
process of being formally registered. The proposed company
has been conceived by the Omani government to implement the
country‘s biggest infrastructure project — a 1,061-kilometer
national rail network integrated with the GCC rail grid.

Losses were led by the Industrials and Transportation indices, declining 0.4% and 0.2% respectively. Top losers were Mannai Corp. and Qatar & Oman Investment Co., falling 3.4% and 2.6% respectively. Among the top gainers, Salam International Investment Co. rose 4.6%, while Barwa Real Estate Co. gained 2.6%. GCC Commentary Saudi Arabia: The TASI index gained 0.6% to close at 7,717.3. Gains were led by the Agriculture & Food Industries and Cement indices, rising 1.5% and 1.0% respectively. Gulf Union Cooperative Insurance Co. rose 7.6%, while The National Co. for Glass Industries was up 5.6%. Dubai: The DFM index rose 0.7% to close at 2,280.3. The Services index gained 2.2%, while the Transportation index was up 2.1%. Emirates NBD rose 4.3%, while Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. was up 3.6%. Abu Dhabi: The ADX benchmark index gained 0.5% to close at 3,580.9. The Telecommunication index rose 1.3%, while the Banking index was up 0.6%. Finance House surged 14.9%, while Union Cement Co. gained 10.5%. Kuwait: The KSE index rose 0.3% to close at 7,986.3. Gains were led by the Consumer Goods and Insurance indices, gaining 2.8% and 2.2% respectively. Palms Agro Production Co. rose 13.3%, while Sokouk Holding Co. was up 7.9%. The index declined on the back of selling pressure from non-Qatari shareholders despite buying support from Qatari shareholders.  Mannai Corp. and Qatar & Oman Investment Co. were the top losers, falling 3.4% and 2.6% respectively. Among the top gainers, Salam International Investment Co. rose 4.6%, while Barwa Real Estate Co. gained 2.6%.  Volume of shares traded on Sunday rose by 86.8% to 5.4mn from 2.9mn on Thursday. However, as compared to the 30-day moving average of 10.5mn, volume for the day was 48.5% lower. Salam International Investment Co. and Qatar Gas Transport Co. were the most active stocks, contributing 23.0% and 17.6% to the total volume respectively. Ashghal President Nasser Ali al-Mawlawi said eight companies were awarded the 11 contracts with a 4Q2014 deadline to complete the projects. Meanwhile, Ashghal has floated a design & build tender for West Bay car park close to its headquarters in Doha. (QE)  Qatar real estate deals grew 20.5% YoY in June – Real estate transactions in Qatar grew 20.5% YoY to QR4.1bn in June 2013. The total number of transactions in the country in June stood at 856 as compared to 669 in June 2012. The number of vacant and undeveloped plots registered in June 2013 stood at 664 with a value of QR1.1bn compared with 444 transactions worth QR2.1bn in June 2012. The villa segment recorded 176 transactions worth QR0.9bn in June as compared to 193 transactions worth QR0.8bn in June 2012. Around 14 transactions worth QR198mn were seen in the buildings segment in June compared with 20 (worth QR212mn) in June 2012. Meanwhile, residential complexes did not register any transactions in June, while seven transactions were seen in this category in June 2012. (QE)  Argentina to get LNG spot cargo from Qatar – Argentina is scheduled to receive a spot cargo of LNG fuel from Qatar. The Golar Arctic tanker, with a capacity of about 138,000 cubic meters, is preparing to dock at the port of Bahia Blanca, southwest of Buenos Aires. The tanker was loaded with its cargo at Qatar's Ras Laffan LNG terminal and departed on June 14. (Bloomberg)  Oman CMA approves country‟s first Sukuk for Tilal Development Co. (40% QIA owned) – The Capital Market Authority (CMA) of Oman has approved the country‘s first corporate Sukuk to be issued by Tilal Development Company. The five-year OMR50mn deal will be privately placed and is expected to close by August. In May 2013, the Sukuk‘s arrangers, Al Madina Financial & Investment Services, had submitted its proposal for the issuance to the CMA. The paper, which received a provisional rating of ‗omBBB+‘ with a stable outlook by Capital Intelligence in April, will be structured as a Sukuk Ijarah, holding a 5% profit rate. Lagarde urged the US as well as Japan to come up with fresh plans to reduce their debt. Meanwhile, she also said the IMF may trim its global growth forecast this week because of the weak economic situation in emerging countries. Referring to the IMF‘s forecast for the global economy in 2013, Lagarde said it had a projected a growth of about 3.3%. E&Y said 1Q2013 experienced the highest amount of capital raised through IPOs in the MENA region in a single quarter since 2008. E&Y found the total capital raised in MENA IPO markets reached $2.1bn in 1H2013, which is 52% higher when compared with the $1.4bn raised in 1H2012.
