1. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. Gomez, the Disney star and Bieber, the
teen singing sensation, entered 2011 as perhaps the best-known young
couple in America. Bieber, 17, is a Canadian singer, songwriter and actor
who was discovered by Scooter Braun and Usher and exploded under their
management. His debut album "My World" set a record when seven
different songs made the Top 100 Billboard chart. Gomez became a star on
the Disney Channel series "Wizards of Waverly Place." She has appeared in
Disney movies and is part of the band "Selena Gomez & the Scene." The
group, with Gomez as lead singer, has released a pair of albums and sold
more than 1.3 million copies as of April, 2011. Despite breakup rumors, the
couple sat together at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards, held in early August,
2011.
2. Jake Gyllenhaal and Kirsten Dunst. Two of America's most promising
young actors kept the tabloids busy by dating for a couple for years,
breaking up amicably in 2004. Gyllenhaal, the son of a director and
screenwriter, is perhaps best known for the movie "Brokeback Mountain" in
2005. Dunst is perhaps best known for her role as Mary Jane Parker in the
three, wildly successful "Spiderman" movies.
3. Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. These two popular actors
are now in steady relationships with other people. But from 1984 to 1991,
they were a legitimate Hollywood power couple, though the relationship was
filled with troubles. Downey Jr. explained after the breakup that he was at
fault. Though he proclaimed his love for Parker, Downey Jr. pointed to his
drinking, as well as a drug problem. Parker, one of the stars of the HBO
series "Sex and the City," won two Emmy awards for the show. Downey Jr.
has been successful in movies, such as "Chaplin," in 1992 and TV series,
such as "Ally McBeal," from 2000-2001. He most recently starred in the
blockbuster movie, "Iron Man" in 2007, and the sequel in 2010. Downey Jr.
is now married to producer Susan Levin and says he has turned the corner on
his drug abuse.
4. Emma Roberts and Alex Pettyfer. This famous young couple met while
filming the coming of age movie "Wild Child" in 2008. They broke up
before the year was up. Pettyfer, also a model, may be best known for his
role in "Stormbreaker" in 2006. Roberts, whose aunt is actress Julia Roberts,

2. and is the daughter of actor Eric Roberts, gained national attention in the
Nickelodeon TV series "Unfabulous."
5. Brandy and Kobe Bryant. Long before the basketball player and singer
would become the huge stars, they went to the senior prom at Lower Merion
High School in Ardmore, Penn., where Bryant was a star basketball player.
The two remained friends, eventually going in other directions romantically.
Professionally, Bryant would end up with the Los Angeles Lakers later that
year, becoming only the sixth high school player to jump directly to the
NBA. In 2011, Bryant was the sixth-highest scorer in league history, with 13
consecutive All-Star appearances, five NBA championships and one MVP
award. Brandy Norwood has become one of the leading R&B singers in the
world. She has won a Grammy award, and sold more than 8.5 million
albums sold so far in her career.
6. Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth. These movie superstars spent four
years dating, eventually breaking up in 2006. Bloom, who gained fame in
the "Lord of the Rings" franchise, first met Bosworth at a coffee shop in
2002 and again at the premiere of the first Rings movie. The English actor
also was part of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series. Bloom is now married
to supermodel Miranda Kerr. Bosworth, meanwhile, made a name for herself
in the "Young Americans" series on TV, and then in movies, such as
"Superman Returns" in 2006. She also has spent time as a national model
and spokesperson for Calvin Klein jeans.
7. Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron. At one time, this pair was perhaps the
hottest, young power couple in the country. Both are stars from the Disney
series "High School Musical" and had a fairly high profile relationship for
four years. They broke up near the end of 2010. Hudgens already has
extensive TV experience and has appeared in several movies, including
"Bandslam" in 2009. By 2011, she had released two albums, both reaching
gold status. Efron also was part of the "Summerland" TV series on the WB
network, and has appeared in a series of films, including "Hairspray" in
2007.
8. Usher and Chilli. Any hookup involving Usher, perhaps the most popular
R&B performer in the world, would capture plenty of attention. That was the
case with the two-year relationship with Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, a
member of the popular female trio TLC. By 2004, the once-intense union

3. was over. Chilli would continue with TLC, the R&B group she joined in
1991. The group had sold 65 million records by 2011, making TLC the most
successful girl band in history. Usher, meanwhile, had a huge year in 2004,
despite the breakup. His album "Confessions" sold more than 10 million
copies in the U.S. alone, and sold nearly one million copies in the first week
- a record for any R&B artist. He has had three albums debut in the No. 1
spot on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. His resume is golden, including seven
Grammy awards, six American Music Awards and 22 Billboard Music
Awards.
9. Miranda Cosgrove and Nat Wolff. The lesson to be learned from this teen-
aged pairing is that even the most popular Nickelodeon star in the country
can get dumped. That's what happened in 2011, when Wolff ended a three-
year relationship with Cosgrove. Wolff is an actor and part of the "Naked
Brothers Band." Wolff became a teen idol by playing himself on the
Nickelodeon show "The Naked Brothers Band." Cosgrove, who turned 18 in
2011, first showed her promise in commercials as a three-year-old. In 2003,
she was a part of the popular film, "School of Rock." Cosgrove was cast in
the Nickelodeon show "Drake & Josh" and was clearly headed for a starring
role. She got that as the title player in "iCarly." In 2010, Cosgrove was the
second highest paid child star on TV, earning $180,000 an episode.
Cosgrove also has entered the singing field, with a debut album released in
2010.
10. Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas. These two teen singing stars and actors first
met during filming of the popular Disney feature film "Camp Rock" in 2007.
They broke up in 2010, but maintained a close relationship as friends and
two of the main elements of a national music tour. Lovato, who graduated
from "Barney and Friends," has become a successful singer, as well as a
popular actress. Both of her albums were certified gold. Jonas, three years
older than Lovato, has been a teen star for years, along with his brothers
Nick and Kevin. They make up the "Jonas Brothers," a hugely popular teen
band. The brothers also starred in their own Disney series about, not
surprisingly, three young brothers in a popular band.
11.Ashley Tisdale and Jared Murillo. Teen fans around the world love it
when Disney stars hook up. That was the case with Tisdale, a regular player
in Disney's popular program, "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody," and Murillo,
a dancer and singer featured in the Disney franchise "High School Musical."

4. The pair dated from 2007 to 2009. Murillo continued his work as a
professional dancer. He also is a member of the boyband "V Factory."
Tisdale, who also owns her own production company, has released two
albums, both certified gold, and appeared in films and TV shows, including
the WB's "Hellcats."
12.Blake Lively and Penn Badgley. What could be better for the many fans of
the CW television series, "Gossip Girl," than to have its costars dating in real
life? Lively and Badgley were a public couple, often on the covers of
tabloids, until they broke up in 2010, after a three-year run together. Badgley
has continued acting in films while Lively has blossomed into a top acting
star, with her role in "Green Lantern" in 2010.
13.Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody. These popular young actors met while
working together on the TV series, "The O.C." After a three-year courtship,
Bilson and Brody went their separate ways in 2006. Bilson has moved on,
making other movies. Brody, meanwhile, has continued to appear in TV and
movie roles, including the movie "Scream 4."
14.Macaulay Culkin and Rachel Miner. Any relationship involving Culkin,
once widely acclaimed as the best young actor in the United States, after his
starring roles in "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York," is
big news. His brief marriage to actress Rachel Miner made national
headlines in 1998 for the two teens. By 2000, they were living separately,
and in 2002, the couple divorced. Miner has appeared in films, on Broadway
and on TV. Culkin, meanwhile, has appeared in movies and TV shows over
the years, but nothing that has been particularly well-received by audiences
or critics. An on-and-off nine-year relationship with actress Mila Kunis
ended in 2011.
