Overview of what is RRI and how the RRI Toolkit -developed by the RRI Tools project- can help to implement it accross Europe, especially through the National Contact Points (NCPs).
This presentation was given by Eva Zuazua and Daniel Garcia (La Caixa Foundation) in the NCPs network meeting (SiS.net) held in Madrid (Spain) on December 2nd, 2015.

From obstacles... ... to solutions
little knowledge on RRI
new, wide, vague, unappealing concept
lack of shared understanding among STKs
clear definition of RRI common to all STKs
more contextual information
lack of collaborations between STKs
networking opportunities
chance for new networks and partnerships
identifying with new groups
specificity of RRI for each STK
(different language, interests, benefits...)
RRI language difficult to communicate
introductory tools for each STK
context-sensitivity
lack of examples of good practices
knowledge on where and how to
apply RRI
catalogue of inspiring practices
how to bring the concept to life for each STK
lack of expertise and ‘soft’ skills to
implement RRI
training and guidance on how to ‘do’ RRI
little knowledge about PAs except for
public participation
holistic view of RRI
lack of resources (money, time, staff...) access to new sources of funding
consultations on the
stakeholders’
needs and constraints

• Concrete examples of application of RRI and the Toolkit resources
• How to incorporate the RRI principles in a funding call
• How to write a project proposal embedding the RRI principles
• How to do Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR)
• How to do open innovation
• How to incorporate RRI in Secondary Education and in Science Museums activities
b. Refine landings’ contents and add introductory tools (PPTs, framework docs)
c. Tune the Toolkit search engine
d. Improve Toolkit contents
• Authors’ contributions
• Suggestions from the Community of Practice
• Self-reflection tool and training tools

When it comes to training on RRI and the RRI Toolkit...
1.What is your need #1?
2. Which other needs would you have? Sort them by priority.
3. Will you be willing to become an RRI trainer?
4. If so, which would be your main target group(s)?
