Based on focus groups, discussions with teachers at conferences and those who have collaborated with NLM.
For teachers time is at a premium, they want resources that can meet the needs of their students.
Work with teachers to determine need.
Identify subject matter experts to insure resources are rich with the “Right” types of materials
Create lesson plans and curricula that meet teach needs, by including teachers in the developmental and evaluation process
Vetted, Vetted, Vetted.
Lesson Plans and Curriculum Units Developed using National Standards
Lesson plans that engage students in the basics of genetic science through the discovery of genetic traits and inheritance patterns of the Harry Potter characters
Educators from health education, history, literature, science, social studies, and technology collaborate with NLM HMD to develop content and standards-aligned educational resources that enhance the online exhibition.
The instructional resources explore how scientific endeavors are shaped by and influence society and culture. The resources engage students in examination of exhibition materials, in order to address specific learning outcomes, as well as help students expand their knowledge with cross-curricular literacy and higher order thinking skills as outlined in the K-12 Common Core State Standards (English Language Arts).
Frankenstein presents the lesson plans for middle and high school.
The lesson plans contain background information, relevant academic topics, national standards, learning outcomes,
step-by-step procedures, and all instructional materials that include several historical primary sources.
