6. Defining
Mental Health
Mental health is good! Yes you read that correct.
According to WHO: "Mental health is a state of well-being
in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities,
can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work
productively and is able to make a contribution to his or
her community."
Crosswalk defines it as: Today, mental health is
understood as feelings of satisfaction and well-being
across all components of a holistic or whole life, which
incorporates the four elements of being as an
integrated whole with our emotions, cognitions, social
relationships and behaviors, and spirituality.
I prefer the
crosswalk
definition
7. More than a
State of Mind
Having good mental health is more than the absence of
illness. Rather, it's a state of holistic well-being.
Holistic: dealing with or treating the whole of
something or someone and not just a part (comes
from Holism)
Holism: the theory that parts of a whole are in intimate
interconnection, such that they cannot exist
independently of the whole, or cannot be understood
without reference to the whole, which is thus regarded
as greater than the sum of its parts.

Maybe we've been looking at things wrong...
If God created us spirit, soul (mind) and body then why do we
neglect one part and think we'll be healthy?
God's plan was that we would be made FULLY alive in Christ.
He doesn't just want us to be well in spirit, but in our soul and
our body.
Paul is saying: May Your Spirit, Soul
and Body Be Well !!!
"Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and
may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the
c o m ing o f o ur Lo rd Jesus C hrist." - 1Thesselo nia ns 5:

True False
14. The power of "I
AM...."
"I am" is based on who you are. Who do you
think you are? Who has God said you are?
Are there differences?
"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he..."
- Proverbs 23:7 NKJV
"What you say can preserve life or destroy
it;so yo u must a c c ept the c o nsequenc es
of your words."
- Pro verbs 18:21NKJV
15. To struggle is defined as:
make forceful or violent efforts to get free
of restraint or constriction.
engage in conflict
strive to achieve or attain something in
the face of difficulty or resistance.
It's okay to
struggle
Do we not do this? I believe the bible says
otherwise
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood
[contending only with physical opponents], but against
the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces
of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of
wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.
- Ephesians 6:12
So what does this mean?
16. Keep up the fight or in
other words...
Struggle and
struggle well
BUT at the same time...
17. We are not our
struggles
I am depressed
I struggle with
depression
I am terrible I feel terrible
I am not loved
I don't feel
loved
There's a big difference in addressing our
struggles healthily and labelling ourselves as
something that we are not
