Letterform
The combination of one letterform and one numeral into a single visual unit.
I explored the relationship between the figure/ground of letterforms, and
paid close attention to the specific elements of various typefaces.

Six-word autobiography
Less is often more. It is a significant challenge to capture one’s life in six
words. By limiting the number of words you choose, each word must be chose
carefully. By choosing the content you will be experiencing design at its
fullest. When designed well, the typographic choices you make will enhance
and compliment the content of the text.

The Hyperbet
Create Your Own Alphabet
I created my own letterforms to make a full alphabet. The alphabet had to
hold together in some way and had to be in order. I used sour gummy worms
paired with other sugary treats to create “The Hyperbet.”
Font Blocks
I chose to study the font Desdemona. We had to create font blocks based on
our font. The blocks had to represent the unique characteristics of our chosen
font. Only two images were allowed, and they had to contribute to the
celebration of the chosen font. I chose a Halloween theme since the blocks
were due in October.
Menu Redesign
The objective for this project was to redesign a menu that orignally was poor-
ly designed. The new menu design is more appealing, easier to read and more
visually appropriate than the original.

vegetables. Soup is served with fish, chicken,

Vermicelli Soup
The vermicelli noodle, bean sprout, mushroom
& fresh herbs added to the broth are why this
soup is our house special. Soup is served with
chicken or shrimp

Bun-Noodle Salad
A large bowl filled with a layer of fresh carrot,
julienne cucumber & bean sprouts.A generous
portion of vermicelli rice noodle is added, along
with fresh cilantro & chives. Salad is topped with
one of the chefs sautées. Choose from shrimp,
pork, beef, vegetable, tofu or chicken
Chef Special Sauté
Each sauté is served on a bed of white rice, or
flat nice noodle, with red & green peppers,
cilantro & chives. Choose from shrimp, filet
mignon & mushroom, pork, chicken, vegetable,
beef or tofu
Vietnamese Crêpe
Sautéed onion, bean sprouts & mung bean along
with beef, chicken, pork or shrimp are cooked
into a crêpe. Crêpes are served with fresh

Alphabet Book
The goal of this project was to become more aware of, capture, and document
examples of interesting typography. Through the process of clipping letters
it became easier to distinguish between effective typography, and ineffective
typography. Each of the 26 letters of the alphabet had to be shown 10 times.

Type Specimen Book
The assignment was to create a type specimen book that will tell the story of
a typeface, and to realize the significance of typography in solving a multi-
page design problem. Components of this process include research, analysis,
content/concept, development, creating an organizational hierarchy, working
within a grid structure, readability and legibility issues.

Gotham was inspired by the simplistic
and industrial signage found throughout
the urban landscape of NYC, as well as
1920s era sans-serifs like Futura.

High Falls, Rochester NY
High Falls used to be the East and Alex-
ander of Rochester. Home to Jillian’s adn
various other bars and nightclubs, every-
one who was anyone was there. Now, it is
still home to a few businesses, The Gen-
esee Brew House and Frontier Field, but
the once booming nightlife of the area has
come and gone.
The Genesee River
The Genesee River flows through the
heart of Rochester, and pours out into
Lake Ontario near Charlotte Beach. The
river begins in the Alleghany Plateau, flows
through Letchworth State Park and meets
the Erie Canal in Henrietta. Boaters can
travel certain parts of the River, but be-
ware High Falls and Low Falls.
The Broad Street Bridge
The Broad Street Bridge Crosses the
Genesee River in downtown Rochester.
The hollow underneath the bridge used to
be an aqueduct for the Erie Canal. Once
the canal was moved, the area was home
to Rochester’s Subway System. Now, the
area is vacant except for vagrants, and
graffiti artists who frequent the area.

In 1869, they founded the National Woman Suffrage Association
as part of a split in the women’s movement. In 1890 the split was
formally healed when their organization merged with the rival
American Woman Suffrage Association to form the National Amer-
ican Woman Suffrage Association, with Anthony as its key force.
In 1876, Anthony and Stanton began working with Matilda Joslyn
Gage on what eventually grew into the six-volume History of Wom-
an Suffrage. The interests of Anthony and Stanton diverged some-
what in later years, but the two remained close friends.
In 1872, Anthony was arrested for voting in her hometown of
Rochester, New York, and convicted in a widely publicized trial.
She refused to pay the fine, but the authorities declined to take
further action. In 1878, Anthony and Stanton arranged for Con-
gress to be presented with an amendment giving women the right
to vote. Popularly known as the Anthony Amendment, it became
the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920.

man, but must be taught
to protect herself.
Susan Brownell Anthony was an American social
reformer who played a pivotal role in the women’s
suffrage movement. Born into a Quaker family com-
mitted to social equality, she collected anti-slavery
petitions at the age of 17. In 1856, she became the
New York state agent for the American Anti-Slavery
Society.
In 1851, she met Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who be-
came her lifelong co-worker in social reform activi-
ties, primarily in the field of women’s rights. In 1852,
they founded the New York Women’s State Tem-
perance Society after Anthony was prevented from
speaking at a temperance conference because she
was a woman. In 1863, they founded the Women’s
Loyal National League, which conducted the largest
petition drive in the nation’s history up to that time,
collecting nearly 400,000 signatures in support of the
abolition of slavery. In 1866, they initiated the Ameri-
can Equal Rights Association, which campaigned for
equal rights for both women and African Americans.
In 1868, they began a women’s rights newspaper
called The Revolution.
Grid Project
The purpose of this assignemnt was to learn how to follow four different
types of grids — Column, Hierarchical, Modular and Deconstructed. The
two featured are my versions of the Modular and the Deconsturcted grids.
The theme of the project was the city of Rochester, New York.
Brochure
This assignemnt required me to create a brochure for the 2015 AIGA Con-
ference in New Orleans. Aspects of the brochure to consider were the way
it opened up  hierarchy of information and design — we had to appeal to
fellow designers.

Calendar
In order to make this calendar I had to utilize many different elements of
design I have learned so far. This is the first project I had to use tabs, and one
of the first times I have used Adobe Illustrator. This calendar represents my
family because everyone’s birthdays are called out. The finished piece was a
gift for my 6-year-old, so I incorporated a motif appropriate for a child, yet
sophisticated enough to not abandon design principles.

I took a fun spin on this “how-to” assignment. I had to create a how-to includ-
ing pictures I took myself. Instead of using pictures I took, I drew one using
Illustrator. I brought the image into InDesign, and went to town. I’m getting
married soon, and thought it would be playful to create a poster to tell my
man how to make me smile.

  • 12. Infographic I took a fun spin on this “how-to” assignment. I had to create a how-to includ- ing pictures I took myself. Instead of using pictures I took, I drew one using Illustrator. I brought the image into InDesign, and went to town. I’m getting married soon, and thought it would be playful to create a poster to tell my man how to make me smile.
