2. Leadership is basically an art of leading and motivating a
group of people for achievement of some common goals.
A leader is a torchbearer who provides confidence and
guidance to a group of people.
Leads followers towards achievement by motivating
them.
A leader is an optimistic person with self-awareness &
clear visions.
Effectiveness & decision making are the main attributes a
good leader must have.
A leader must be clear and open to his followers and
along-with leading them he should also educate them.
3. Participation in sports being a student teaches following benefits and
values:
It provides more confidence, physical fitness, self respect and
qualities of leadership.
It teaches discipline and value of struggle for the achievement of
goals.
In the team, the sports teach the value of team work and working
together to establish and achieve a common mission.
Hence, for me the sportsmanship a great way of gaining: leadership,
discipline, hard-work and team-work, intelligence and loyalty, and
creativity.
4. There are two types of leadership:
Expressive leadership: Such leadership style works to keep
cooperative and friendly relationships, and ensures the combined
welfare of the group.
Instrumental Leadership: Such leadership is goal-oriented and
concerned with attaining the projected missions.
Each leadership style has its own benefits and effectiveness.
Understanding the working style makes it easier to understand
nature of work and improves the effectiveness.
I prefer myself to be an expressive leader because achievement of
the goal becomes easier with team work. A friendly environment is
also important.
5. Being a leader I focus on realizing my responsibilities and play role
accordingly. There are four major responsibilities towards the team:
Positive peer model: Presenting a positive role model.
Strong motivation: Providing them proper and strong motivation.
Effective communication: Communicate with them effectively.
Team Cohesion: Keeping them united and together for team work.
6. A good leader is a role model for the whole group.
A good leader doesn’t only talks but acts. He faces challenges and
works hard to present himself as a role model for others to follow
him.
Leader takes stand, walks on the right path and guides the followers
and make the strategies for the challenges.
After making strategies, their implementation is also the duty of the
leader.
7. In a leadership communication plays vital role. There are different
ways to communicate with the team effectively.
Verbal communication is used to convey the messages and deliver
the ideas and strategies for the mission, in the form of speeches.
Non-verbal communication involves the actions of the leader and the
body language. A good leader must communicate and give
guidance with his actions too.
Along with the verbal and non-verbal communication, listening to
them is also a form of communication. It helps understand and
cooperate with each other.
8. Motivation is defined as an emotional and social reason or force for
acting or behaving in a specific way.
A leader presents the mission statement. Then he encourages
people to work as a team for the achievement.
Then after that, he motivates his teammates with effective
communication and his actions.
A leaders first accepts his own shortcomings and weaknesses, and
works to eradicate them. After that he makes the team realize theirs.
And then motivates them to overcome those shortcomings and
achieve the objectives.
9. Team work is important to attain the unity and accomplish the
mission.
Team-work with good motivation then results
in the form of positive outcomes.
Everyone in the team possesses the equal importance.
You have to support everyone’s opinion.
So, the team building and chemistry, and unity of teammates matters
a lot and bringing it to practice is the role of a leader.
10. In a team there come many tough challenges. These challenges
could be internal or external.
Being a leader, I have to make sure that all of my teammates are
satisfied and are cooperative with each other so that no internal
problems could occur.
A good leader has the ability to work under-pressure.
To overcome hardships and hurdles specific strategies are made by
leaders.
The decision making is the duty of leader but he must be careful to
see that whether everyone is happy and agrees with the decision or
not.
11. What was overall impression of your experience with captains course?
The course was really interesting and educational; teaching a lot of
good things.
What did you think were some of the most important take-home
messages of the Captains Course?
To convey something you yourself must pay attention carefully too.
An effective leader keeps the personal interests away and brings the
common interests of the group on the top.
By acting on all of above qualities a good leader can take his team
towards the accomplishment of the goal.
Quality leadership is really important for team development and the
achievement of missions.
