This document describes a speed checker device for highways that uses lasers and light dependent resistors (LDRs) to detect the speed of passing vehicles and display their speed digitally. If a vehicle exceeds the maximum permitted speed, the device will sound an alarm. It provides the block diagram, components used, operating principles, and potential applications and future developments of the speed checker to enhance safety on highways.

2. Introduction While driving on highway motorist should not exceed maximum speed limit permitted for their vehicle. However accidents keep occurring due to speed violation since the drivers tends to ignore their speedometers. The speed checker will come for the highway traffic police as it will only provide digital display in accordance with a vehicle speed but also sound an alarm if the vehicle exceeds the permissible speed for the highway.
