4. Introduction to VSCode IDE
• Visual Studio Code is an open source, lightweight and
powerful source code editor for Windows, macOS and
Linux
• It comes with a number of amazing features like:- Inbuilt
Git Integration, Terminal, Code debugging, Live sharing
and an integrated CLI for quick access to commands
• Force.com IDE is retired and from October 12, 2019.
Support, updates, documentation, and downloads for the
Force.com IDE are not available.
• Salesforce has it’s own extension pack which provides a
number of features readily available for easy integration
with salesforce org and development.
5. Introduction to Salesforce DX CLI
• Salesforce DX provides you with an integrated, end-to-end
lifecycle designed for high-performance agile development
• Salesforce CLI is the single command-line interface for
Force.com and all Salesforce DX features
• The “Salesforce Extension Pack” extension in vscode uses
salesforce cli and run salesforce dx commands in the background
as we interact with our salesforce org
• You can either interact with a devhub or any production/sandbox
salesforce environment using sfdx commands in the cli
