7. Working
Process
As the working or the running process of every company is same but here I would
like to mention something. There are basically two ways of products, promotional
and non-promotional. Working process in the company was also the same. If
it is for any different company or promotional then either the client gives its
own design n prints and all the specifications about the bags, or they
just give the prints or designs and rest of the specifications was into
designers choice as per things going to be in the bag(s).
For non-promotional bags we used to follow the new trends
about the bags and as per the consumers needs and
demand whether they want bags for any occasion like
wedding or any of their promotional event. Or else
non-promotional bags include bags for retails as
well.
1 cutting of the selected fabric with
proper measurements
2 goes for the prints designed for the
particular bag(s) approved by the
client if it is for any specific client or
else by the boss of the company for
retails
3 it goes for stitching
4 it goes for adding handle to bags
5 then it goes for testing whether it
strong or not to check bag’s durability
6 final approval.
Manufacturing
Process
There are two types of manufacturing processes;
Sampling
process
Production
process.
01 02

8. For non- promotional bags;
1 selection of the fabric by the boss
2 design according to coming new trend in the market
3 processing of design artwork to screen exposing
Cutting of the selected fabric for the bag
Printing of the design
Approval by the authorized person the in the
company(boss)
Sampling
Process
For Promotional bags;
If design and all the specifications are given by the client or
the company,
1 making the visuals of the print or design on the of
specified size and colour
2 if first one gets approved then it comes to sampling of the
bag with the design on the bag with all specified colours
and size
3 clicks of the bag with having design on it goes to the client
4 when the sample of the main product gets approved by
the client then it goes production as per the demand and the
quantity given by the client.
After the approval of sample of a product it goes under production
process. In production process fabric is cut according to the
quantity given by the clients for their bags. Then it goes under the
process of printing the design on the fabric which is being used
for making bags. Then it goes for stitching. After stitching done
adding handles to the bags is processed. Even the handles are of
different types cord handle, flat handle, stripe handle and etc. After
the handles are added to the bags, it for quality checking. In quality
checking process every bag is being tested manually whether they
cut, printed, stitched and handled properly or not according to the
clients demand. All the technical like size of the bag, design on the
bag, colours matching with appropriate pantone or not, size and
type of the handle, quality of fabric, everything is being checked
manually.

9. Cutting
of the fabric
Cutting of the fabric depends upon the clients
demands what size of the bag they want then
with margin of few centimetres they cut fabric.
Measurement of the
fabric cutting with
margins
Cutting of the fabric
They mainly use screen printing for the printing of designs on the bags. Though if required
they definitely go for different types of printing including digital print, foil print, CMYK (four
colour) print.
For screen printing they first apply powder through the screen of the particular print to mark
accurate place and size so that at the end bag doesn’t get affect by that.
Printing

10. Then the fabric is being placed on the marked area
to get it printed accurately. Then the fabric is get
fixed by draping pin to the table as it is necessary for
fabric to fixed at an accurate place for good printing.

12. Stitching
After printing next processing is to stitch. As in the first step of the process
mentioned about margins, here those margins play the big role. According to those
margins only bags get stitched so that the prints on bags doesn’t get effected and
looks clear.
Handling
Now comes the handling part as adding handles to
bags. Now handles also depend upon the bags and the
demands of the clients.

13. Quality
Analysis
After bag is done with all the manufacturing process then it
goes under the quality check. All the techniques used in quality
check is manual. One by one all the bags is checked manually to
ensure the quality of the product as Hitaishi always provides to its
customers.
Packaging
Packaging is the technology of enclosing or protecting products for distribution,
storage, sale, and use. Packaging also refers to the process of design, evaluation,
and production of packages. Packaging can be described as a coordinated system of
preparing goods for transport, warehousing, logistics, sale, and end use. Packaging
contains, protects, preserves, transports, informs, and sells. In many countries it is fully
integrated into government, business, institutional, industrial, and personal use.

18. CLIENTSWE ARE WORKING FOR
PROJECTSassigned to me
1 research work on jute bags and different websites.
2 to do artwork for Kunming, China fair.
3 to do artworks for their clients.
4 to design the brochure for their products.
5 to do research and artwork for their non promotional bags.
6 to design some and do artworks for Bangalore fair.
33 34
20. In the first two weeks I had been asked to do research on the
jute bags for their website and to do art work of few designs for
the Kunming, China fair. In brief my mentor asked me to design
some prints for the bags related to their things so I did artwork of
few Chinese dolls, a very famous temple in Kunming and on few
typography in Chinese language. Lastly I had been asked to do the
layout of the stall for the fair.

21. WORKSdone for the clients
In the company I was working as graphic designer mainly. I had to do art works for
their prints which was supposed to go on the bags. I also had been assigned to do
the visuals as to show the artwork on bags digitally to get it approved by the client.
Further if the client likes the design gets satisfy with its demands by given all its
specification done on the bag they call for further mass production for the same print
as per their requirement.
Starting with my first artwork done in the company for any
client;
Stansted Audi

Christophe Adam
22. 41 42
Estee Lauder and Clinique
For these two brands I had been asked to do the art work for bag which would
carry a make-up box of specified dimensions mentioned to me. The brief was
all about to design a bag as well so that a make-up box of particular length,
breadth and height can be easily get fit inside the bag.
Artwork done of the bag for Estee Lauder
23. 4443
Chowmahalla museum Shop, it is a project on Chowmahalla Palace
of Hyderabad built in 1887. Here in the picture the photograph of the is clicked
by Lala Deen Dayal, court photographer and he had to present this bag to Mir
Mahbub Ali Khan, Nizam VI of Asaf Jahi Dynasty. The picture which has two
picture if the bag shows the front and back design on the bag and the other one
shows the colour in the photograph. Here the client wanted to have a bag with the
same print having all the colours and gradient shown in the other picture. So for
having the all the colours mentioned it was difficult to do it with screen printing so I
had been asked to get it done in CMYK(four colour) printing. Through which all the
colour and gradient will show up in a better way.
Peter and Pauls
Peter and Pauls had two different kind of
bags to get printed on it. First one was to
promote one of its kind of food items. They
already had a bag on what the design was
supposed to be printed.
24. 45 46
The other bag was supposed be jute bag and the print was the name and the logo of the
company.
Non-promotional bags
As the Hitaishi mainly works for their clients but they
do also work on no-promotional bags. There were few
designs I had been asked to do for non promotional
bags. They use those bags to different fairs. This time
while working in the industry I was supposed to do non-
promotional for Bangalore fair as it was the nearest fair
coming for them to go and present their bags.
In context to that my mentor had a design which she
wanted to get printed on the bag. Basically the print was
inspired from Ikat embroidery which is originally from
Indonesia. She wanted this embroidery to show it as a
print on the bag.
25. 4847
There I had to do art work for the bag which was supposed to be
carried by the authorised person to Bangalore fair. It was very much
specified about the fabric, prints, colours and design/pattern of the bag.
The brief given to me for the bag was

Layout design
for website
About us is the page where all the content and the
picture there gives a brief idea about the company.
So the page to contain photograph and a write up
about the company.
Because of the shortage of time and in process of
completing other works like artworks for clients and
visuals I could not complete the task of designing
layout. But few of the pages were done before I my
internship got over.
So as brief given to me for website was very simple
and sorted. My mentor had asked me to design a layout
for the website keeping in mind about the reputation
of the company and about all the products which are
manufactured there. As Hitaishi mainly talks about jute
bags so in that context I was supposed to design a
layout which looks eco-friendly and which tells about
bags and its ethics aesthetics of the bags.
I could barely do layout for two pages ‘ABOUT US’ and
‘CERTIFICATION’.
27. Earlier the layout of the page was looking like this.
My mentor said it looks very kiddish and wanted it
to look mature.
The picture I use is form of the bags
selected by my mentor. At the back I have
used a wall with those creepers to give
it a look of eco friendly which is some
what visible. Then in the back ground
I have used green color to give it
very relevant look.
In the earlier layout it of blue colour which some where it was giving
a very monotonous look the page. My mentor was not so happy
with the colour so she wanted me to change the colour of round
figures. So I changed it golden which was very suitable to the page
whatever it says about the page and the content of the page.
Certificationis the page which says all
about the about the company’s product, its quality, trust
throughout . From last 20 years it always tied and stood up
to its words always served good prod quality products to its
clients and customers with all the trust and security. This
page is proof of that trust what the Hitaishi always won of its
customers.

28. Cost Sheet
53 54
Costing is a very important chapter in any industry and of great
need to be understood by everybody involved in the process cycle of a
product, be it a designer, marketing personnel,
manufacturer or buyer.
The cost of a product depends upon various factors:
• Raw material cost
• Machining cost
• Production cost
• Finishing cost
• Labor cost
• Assembling cost
• Packaging cost
• Transportation cost
• And other expenses like wastage, repair etc, along with factory over
heads Profit margin.
• A basic percentage of 25% on the total cost of production is taken as
the profit margin that varies with the type and quality of the production.
