The University started as Sunyani Technical Institute (SUTECH) in 1967 to offer technical and vocational education and training.In 1997, Sunyani Technical Institute was upgraded to Sunyani Polytechnic (SPOLY).In 2016, Sunyani Polytechnic was converted to Sunyani Technical University (STU) The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started in 1967. The department has well qualified, experienced, and dedicated staff members with specialization in various fields like power system, power electronics, computer & communication technologies, Instrumentation, Artificial intelligence.
