Possessive adjectives and pronouns
What will I learn from the lesson possessive adjectives and pronouns?

What are adjectives?
Adjectives are used to describe nouns. They are words that describe or modify another person,
thing, place, or idea in the sentence. They can also describe pronouns, which are words that stand in
for nouns. Adjectives most of the time come before the word, they are used to describe nouns.

What are pronouns?
A pronoun has the same meaning as a noun.

I like Mr Bean. I know him well (Him has the same meaning as Mr Bean as it refers to him.)

I know Sarah. She is a really friendly person. (The pronouns she refers to the noun Sarah.)

Possessive adjectives
A possessive adjective describes something that belongs to the person or thing. The possessive
adjective is always before its noun

My Your His Her Its Our you’re Their

** REMEMBER the possessive adjective is always before its noun **

It's my car. My = possessive adjective :: car = noun

That's his mother.His = possessive adjective :: mother = noun

This is our house. Our = possessive adjective :: house = noun

All examples show the adjective is always followed by the noun

Possessive pronouns
A possessive pronoun is used to show ownership, but possessive pronoun is never followed by its
noun.

Mine yours his hers ours yours theirs

** REMEMBER the possessive pronoun is never followed by its noun **

This is mine.Mine = possessive pronoun :: this = noun

Give it to Peter: it's his.His = possessive pronoun :: this = noun

The money is ours.Ours= possessive pronoun :: this = noun
All examples show the noun is not before the noun
