from a cabling guy to being one of the head network engineers at a large global company. My experience ranges

October 2014 – March 2015 (Contract)
Network Engineer
o Support a network comprised of over 100 malls nationwide and 800+ networking devices.
o Provision new switches for upgrades and expansions (i.e. Cisco Catalyst 2960)
o Work with cohorts and vendors to “test and turn up” new and upgraded internet circuits at malls.
o Configure Fortigate firewalls for the new internet circuits and verify that our cloud Wi-Fi provider can
communicate with all APs
o Communicate with various ISPs to troubleshoot and repair phone issues ranging from registering a new IP
phone to repairing a PRI after the number was removed.
o Configured phones, voicemail, Hunt groups, Auto Attendant, and speed dials on the following systems: Call
Manager and Unity Express, 3Com.
o Add guest accounts and whitelist clients on Aruba Wireless Controllers as well as provision IP address for
APs.
o Assist with the configuration of our CCTV systems on the network and troubleshoot all networking issues.
Nokia: Location and Commerce (Now branded Here Maps) – Chicago, IL
December 2011 – October 2014 (Contract)
Network Engineer (Promotion)
o Manage network of 4000+ users and 2900+ servers comprised of various locations including the US and
Europe.
o Configure and or manage 300 pieces of Cisco equipment composed mostly of Catalyst 4948/E and 3750
switches.
o Configure ports and VLANS/subnets as well as multicast on Cisco core switches composed of Catalyst 6509
Nexus 7018 and 7010
o Configured and deployed Nexus 5596UP cluster with Nexus 2248TP fabric extensions. Set up VPC links and
keep-alive.
o Configured a Nexus 6001 pair with and without config-sync and with VPC/Enhanced VPC. Downlink
switches were Nexus 2248TP and 2232PP switches in a dual homed environment.
o Preform initial configuration for Cisco UCS 6296UP fabric interconnects.
o Used F5s to do the following: Create VIPs, implement SSL, HTTP redirects, create iRules for reverse proxy
and URI specific redirect via the switch –glob command.
o Configured interfaces and ACLs on Cisco ASA Firewalls via ADSM and CLI.
o Work with developers to configure firewall configurations for applications communicating with Amazon
Web Services (AWS) on both internal and AWS firewalls.
o Create Ether channel uplinks (trunks) to local and core switches.
o Added jumbo frames to portions of the network.
o Set up monitoring sessions on cores for packet sniffers.
o Assist in readdressing company’s entire network comprised of workstations, printers, servers, and switches.
o Use Call Manager to configure new users IP phones.
o Deploy new VLANs and move servers to new networks.
o Document all network changes.
Navteq (Later acquired by Nokia) – Chicago, IL

Computer Operations Technician
o Conduct the daily backups using the Quantum Scalar i2000 tape library.
o Perform memory, storage, and HBA upgrades on various Dell and Sun servers including PowerEdge r410-
710 family and SunFire x4600.
o Install and configure Cisco Catalyst 4948 switches. Power and Network (Ethernet and fiber) all new company
servers as well as rack and remove others.
