ಗಣಕಯಂತ್ರದ ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆ /Concept of Computer: “ಗಣಕಯಂತ್ರ” ಅಥವಾ “ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್” ಲ್ಯಾಟಿನ್ ಭಾಷೆಯ “ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟ್” ಎಂಬ ಪದದಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟ್ ಎಂದರೆ ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಎಂದರ್ಥ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಗಣಕಯಂತ್ರವನ್ನು “ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ಮಾಡುವ ಯಂತ್ರ”ವೆAದು ಕರೆಯಬಹುದು. Computer is derived from Latin word “Compute”.
