Schools Should
Conduct For
Autistic Children
Autism spectrum disorder leads
to kids having speech issues,
withdrawal symptoms and
fixation issues.Therapies have
been known to work best for
kids with autism. Some of the
top rated therapies that have
given positive results in the past
are Floor time therapy, applied
behavioral analysis, Pivotal
response treatment and
relationship development
intervention.
Floor time therapy requires the
schools to develop activities
based on the autistic child’s
individual interest.These
activities help the child learn by
way of interests areas that child
already has. Floortime does not
separate and focus on speech,
motor, or cognitive skills but
rather addresses these areas
through a synthesized emphasis
on emotional development.
Applied behavioral analysis
involves noticing reaction of the
child to certain command or a
situation upfront.The
consequence can include
positive reinforcement of the
desired behavior or no reaction
for incorrect responses. ABA
targets the learning of skills and
the reduction of challenging
behaviors.
Pivotal response treatment
concentrates on bringing about
positive changes in the pivotal
behavior of the child.This leads
to improvements in
communication skills, play skills
and general behavior of the
child amidst people. Parents can
easily reinforce the session at
home during normal course of
the day.
Relationship development
intervention works on the same
principle as the others and
works on building long terms
social skills.There five principles
of this therapy are:
• Emotional referencing
• Social coordination
• Declarative language
• Flexible thinking
• Relational information
processing
