To whom it may concern:
I have known Ricardo Moll in my capacity as the Chair of the international not-for-profit organisation
the Coalition of Legal Toothfish Operators (COLTO, Inc.) since 2003, and I have pleasure in providing
this reference as to his integrity, dedication to justice, and commitment to a cause.
My links with Ricardo have mainly been in relation to our goal, as COLTO, to eliminate illegal,
unregulated and unreported (IUU) fishing for Toothfish in the Southern Ocean.
To help achieve that goal, we have worked collaboratively with conservation groups, industry
members, government agencies, inter-governmental groups and many others. Ricardo first
participated as part of our early campaign to locate information on IUU fishing, where he provided
detail insights on activities by unscrupulous operators, which we were able to pass on, with other
data and information, to authorities for appropriate action.
The actions by Ricardo to support sustainable resources management and conservation of our
fisheries led to grave personal danger for him in a number of instances, and indeed personal injuries
received in attempts to ‘dissuade’ him from continuing to work against IUU fishing.
I have always found the information sources, and analyses from Ricardo to be accurate, verifiable,
and logical. He presents his case in depth and with passion, and is a positive attribute to understand
better the challenges faced to control and eliminate illegal resources extraction and actions that
occur in the seafood industry.
I would be happy to provide more details as a reference for Ricardo, and can be contacted on the
below email or phone.
