Who is Richard Takemura?
First of all, I’m very happy and fortunate in my personal life and careers. I’m lucky enough to
have a great family and friends that trust and support me in any endeavor that I decide to
embark, I appreciate all of them. The key is balance and support. You really need support so
surround yourself with like-minded individuals or just people that will give you that extra push
when you need it.
Block out the naysayers as they probably don’t have the entrepreneurial mindset that you
possess. Give yourself a pat on the back for taking the first step and reading this eBook. Read

I have experience marketing through all media types including fliers, newspapers, radio,
television, outdoor billboards, etc. You name it I’ve most likely tried it. This all started back in
the early 90’s when we passed out millions of fliers as our main source of marketing. Hand to
hand one by one, a whole lot of gas and hours.

Why Do So Many Internet Startups Fail Today?
Every day out there in the real brick and mortar world, millions and millions of people drag
themselves from their warm beds, take a shower, grab a cup of coffee, and head off to their
jobs as they are thinking that there has got to be an easier way to make a living.
Every one of those millions and millions of people knows somebody who has quit the ‘get-up-
and-go-to-work’ grind and is making a very good living by working on their personal computers
from the comfort of their own homes.
Working from home sounds like an ideal solution to them. Many of these dissatisfied souls will
quit their jobs and plunge head-first into internet marketing with no preparation, no knowledge
of what they are doing, no education, and no hope of success. Failure is their only option and
they don’t even suspect.
The fact is that according to many sources, more than 90% (Ninety percent) of all Internet
business start-ups end in failure within the first 120 (one hundred twenty) days. Yes, you read
that right. MORE THAN NINETY PERCENT!
This failure rate should be a warning to those who are considering trying their hand at making
a go of working on the Internet rather than at a job in the brick and mortar world.
Of course, success is possible. There IS that other 10% (ten percent) that do succeed. The
thing is success doesn’t happen by accident. And success isn’t just a crap shoot. Success
happens because of some very important factors.
Success happens because people have the right ideas about internet marketing and how it
works. They do not expect to get rich quick or be able to make a killing over night and retire to
a tropical isle.

It is strange but somehow the same people who wouldn’t dream of starting a real world
business, think they can make a go of an internet business even though they have no business
background.
People will go into an internet business with the idea that they no longer have to get up and go
to work. They think they can simply work when the feel like it and still make a good living. They
simply do not expect to have to work hard or work long hours.
Wrong Perceptions about the Internet
The 90% failure rate of new Internet businesses really isn’t all that surprising when you stop to
think about the people who are starting internet businesses.
For some unknown reason most people think that running a successful internet business is as
easy as getting a website built and hanging out an ‘open for business’ sign. They couldn’t be
more wrong.
Running a successful internet business of any kind requires self-discipline. People will start an
internet business and think that they can party all night, sleep until noon and then make a living
in 3 or 4 hours sitting in front of a computer. They somehow think that the world is just going to
line up on their website and hand over money. It isn’t going to happen.
Internet businesses do not run on auto-pilot. It is true that well established internet marketing
gurus do not have to put in long, tedious hours on their businesses but it is a privilege that that
has been earned by putting in a lot of long and tedious hours.
It didn’t happen overnight for them and it won’t happen overnight for anybody. Most people are
totally unprepared for the time investment that must be made in order for an internet business
to become successful

It Is Not What You Know, But Who You Know
That is an old saying. “It is not What you know, but Who you know that counts”. Surround
yourself with successful people and you will have a better chance at becoming successful.
Setting a corner stone of good solid relationships is an important aspect of building a
successful e-enterprise.
Working hard at building good solid business relationships is worth every minute of time that
you invest in it. Business relationship building should be one of your top priorities.
When you build social relationships, you insert yourself into social situations where you come
in contact with people who have interests that are similar to or complimentary to your own
interests don’t you?
That is precisely the same way that business relationships are established. You insert yourself
into business situations where you will meet others who have businesses that are similar to or
complimentary to your own business. You develop relationships over a period of time.
There are several ways in which to accomplish this task. One way is to participate in
teleseminars or webinars that are related to your business.
You will learn a lot, of course, but equally important, you will come in contact with those who
are already succeeding in the niche market that you are working in.
Of course, attending real brick and mortar world seminars is an even better way to begin to
build friendly business relationships with not only your peers but also with those who are in a
position to help you....which brings me to the final corner stone that you need to lay.

Find a Mentor
I have the privilege of knowing and working with John Chow. He has helped guide me in my
Journey working with My Top Tier Business. It isn’t likely that there is a more valuable asset
that a new e-entrepreneur can have than a good and capable mentor. Someone who has
already made all of the mistakes can help you to avoid making all of the mistakes yourself.
They have the wisdom that comes from experience to point out pitfalls and to help direct you
toward the better of choices.
Why, you ask, would anyone who has it made want to take their time to help a newbie
succeed? Successful internet marketers want that ‘immortality’ as well. The ones who are the
very most successful are the ones, amazingly enough, who are the most likely to mentor an up
and coming e-entrepreneur.
Of course, these successful internet marketers are not going to be interested in wasting their
time on a person who has not already worked hard to lay those first three corner stones
themselves.
These potential mentors are looking for new comers who show that they have a right and
healthy mindset, who are working hard at leveraging and who are well aware of how important
it is to know all the players and the RIGHT people.

In short, the new comer most likely to get a mentor is one who is already working hard and
helping himself and not looking for someone who can just smooth the way for him.
A good mentor can help you get an online business up and running faster and more

I’m a Newbie. Where do I start?
Here is a basic checklist to get you started in Internet Marketing. I wish I had a list like this
when I first started. I could have saved hundreds maybe even thousands of dollars.
Come up with a plan and an identity
Think about what you’re passionate about. Is it SEO, Social Media, Affiliate Marketing or just
Internet Marketing in general. Really think about this because this will affect how and what you
do. If you’re not passionate and completely bored out of your mind chances are you’ll be
heading down the wrong path.
The most important thing is to be yourself and give your readers value. In so many instances
newbies will set up a blog and immediately flood it with affiliate links and banners. In the
beginning you’ll want try to follow and emulate gurus which isn’t bad but you really need to
focus on you. You want to create your own brand and giving your readers what they are
interested in.

Figure out your desired URL or website address
I have all my domains and hosting at Hostgator but you can easily get them with many other
vendors like GoDaddy. This is probably the most difficult part searching for a name because
there are companies out there that just buy names and make a business out of it. Whatever
you can think of they probably own it and will try to sell it at a premium. If you want to brand
yourself then use your name. Good chance it might be available.
Remember that Content is Always King
You probably know that content is more important than buzz words and search engine
optimization these days, but remember to apply those same principles to your email marketing.
While it is true that one of your goals should be to drive traffic to your website, store, or blog, it
is also true that the best way to accomplish that goal is through good content. Don’t make your
blogs or emails just a bunch of images and taglines. Instead, provide small pieces of content in
them with links to a place where customers can learn more about what you are offering. The
goal in list building is not only to have a wide network of people you can contact, but to provide
you with the means of engaging that network.
What Content Management System do you want to use?
I recommend you use Wordpress. It is very easy to set up and can be up rather quickly. Below

Blog Design and or Theme
In the beginning stages you can keep it basic but if you want to customize your theme there
are many places. A few that I’ve used are Themeforest.net and Studiopress.com. They both
have great tutorials on how to set up columns, change headers, backgrounds, colors, font
types, etc. Below is an example of a theme I purchased on Themeforest.net. Colors make a
big difference in mood when someone is on your site. Read my article Colors and your

List Building
Among the many tools that a web marketer has to attract people to a website is the use of
email lists. Email marketing is more effective than SEO optimization and social media in many
ways because it is more targeted. It also breeds a sense of customer identity and loyalty that
other forms of marketing don’t. However, you need to make sure that you go about list building
in the proper manner. The tips below will help you in a successful list building venture.

You should consider your marketing emails to be something akin to a company newsletter or
similar regular communication. This is the primary way that subscribers will hear about who
you are and what you do and it can be an extremely valuable tool in converting readers into
customers. Before you even begin list building, you need to make sure that you have a plan
mapped out. This plan should include what you want to include in your emails, how often you
want to send them out, and what customers you are specifically targeting. You should also
design your email template to include your company logo and any other branding information
you might need, establishing an identity early on.
Set Up a Good Auto responder
One of the most effective tools that can supplement any new list building software is a good
auto responder program. This will give you a way to automate a response to people who send
you emails. I personally use Aweber.
Build for the Long Term
It's important to remember that email marketing isn’t just a passing fad that will go away in a
few years. When you start out list building, you need to be thinking in the long term. Select a
pool of potential clients that you can expect to get lasting loyalty from. Pace your emails so you
provide a little bit of tantalizing information each one, but don't feel the need to overload each
mailing with information. You are building your list as something that will be around for the
foreseeable future, so you can pace out the information at an appropriate rate. Analyze exactly
how much news you usually have over a given time period and then plan your emails
accordingly to deliver that news when it is relevant.

Provide an Easy Opt In for new Customers
Once your list building is nearly complete and you're almost ready to launch your email
campaign, you need to make sure that you get as many subscribers as possible. You can use
existing lists as a base, but email addresses change and lists shrink as the years go by. You
need a way to keep track of new and old customers and to encourage people to provide you
with their information. You should make sure that you have a landing page with a clear option
to subscribe to your emails. Ideally, this subscription option should be one of the first things the
customer sees, usually right at the top of the page or at the top of the side navigation frame of
your blog or website.
Offer Supplemental Support
Your list building will be most effective if you can provide some sort of platform for people you
contact to learn additional information. Embedding links into your emails is definitely the best
way to go in this regard, although other options exist as well including social media outreach
as a way of attracting conversation. Again, this infrastructure should be in place before you
begin your marketing campaign. That way, when you send out those first few emails,
customers will be able to get more information through your online store, your blog, or another
outlet that you can use to better inform visitors. The list itself is only part of the job – an
infrastructure is an absolute must.
Prepare Follow up Letters
As you are list building, draft at least one email that you can use as a follow up to reach out to
subscribers. This email should have no sales pitch in it. Your goal for the follow up is just to
contact subscribers shortly after they join your list and inform them of what they can expect.
This has a few benefits. First, you can make a personal appeal to the customer without making
that person feel like you are applying immediate sales pressure. Second, the follow up can

establish your tone and your brand. Third, it gives somebody who signed up in error a chance
to opt out if they want. This is less than desirable, but it’s better not to annoy somebody with a
lot of unwanted emails, even if they aren’t a customer.
Include an Easy Response System
List building involves reaching out to a ton of potential customers, and the customers
themselves usually know that they are only one recipient in a larger pool. That doesn’t mean
that you need to treat a customer like just another number, though. All mailings that you send
out should include an easy to find customer service link or a 'contact us' button that clients can
use to reach out to you quickly and easily. Most importantly, these emails should be going to
somebody who can provide a personalized and thoughtful response. If you add a personal
touch to your interactions with customers, you are much, much more likely to breed brand
loyalty and have those customers come back for more down the road.
Add Exclusive Content to your Emails
While part of the goal of list building is to drive more people to view your website or social
media outlet, you strive to make sure that your emails are more than just promotions. Provide
plenty of external resources that you can link to, but also make sure to include some exclusive
content in your emails. This makes it so that the people who subscribe to your list are getting
some sort of reward for doing so, which gives others more incentives to join. This could take
the form of exclusive articles, special videos, and much more. Whatever you do to provide this
extra content, make sure you advertise it well on your staging platform so people have that
extra reason to click on the subscribe button.

Use Images and Video
People are more inclined to read an email if there is a graphical display for them to look at.
Studies have demonstrated that images are extremely popular in marketing emails, and that
embedded video is even better if you can produce it at a high enough degree of quality.
Whatever list building software you choose to use, make sure that it supports these pieces of
multimedia. This will likely mean that you will want to avoid freeware versions of list building
software, since those programs provide basic functionality but are rarely reliable when it comes
to more advanced options. No matter what sort of images or video you use, make sure that
your brand appears to help viewers make the connection.
Highlight Deals in the Subject Line
If you're using your list building as a way to get the news out about great deals, make sure that
you highlight those sales in the subject line of each email announcement. At the same time,
avoid making basic mistakes like using poor grammar or using too many capital letters, as
these will increase the likelihood that your email will get accidentally deleted as spam. By
making your deals as clear as possible in the subject line, you will increase the level of interest
in your readers right away. This will in turn make them more likely to click on the email. From
there, you should follow through and clearly highlight the deal in your subject line at the top of
your email. Good message construction generates sales.
Build your Emails like you Build your Site
One of the things that will help out your online marketing endeavor a lot is making sure that
you stay consistent across all media. That means that your marketing emails should have the
same color scheme and basic graphical layout as your blog, store, and website. You don't
need to follow the template slavishly, but you should definitely work to make sure that anything
you send out is immediately recognizable as a part of your brand identity. When doing longer
email articles or links that lead readers to your blog or website, make sure that the writing style

remains consistent. The goal should be to give a seamless transition from one form of media
to another, no matter where your customers go.
Keep a Consistent Schedule
Last but not least, make sure that you stay consistent in your email schedules. When you are
in the list building phase, you should strive to make sure that you have several emails queued
up that will be able to see you through the early weeks or months of your marketing campaign.
That way, if you run into a technical problem or some other delay, you have the time to adjust it
without disrupting your schedule. The goal of staying consistent in your email releases is to
make sure that customers are expecting and looking forward to each new announcement. If
you plan to do a weekly email every Wednesday, make sure you have the email ready to go
out by Tuesday at the latest to avoid problems.
By following the guidelines above, you will be able to engage in a very successful email
marketing campaign. Good list building and preparation for a long series of email updates can
make the difference between a successful marketing endeavor and one that leaves you with a
lot of wasted time and money. No matter what else you do, always remember that quality and
consistency are the keys to successful list building.

To make sure you know how campaigns are performing you’ll want to have a link tracking
account. I personally use Linktrackr. This is how you keep your vendors honest by tracking
exact click through rates. Stop guessing and know exactly how your campaigns are
performing.

There are few types of metrics that you should consider when evaluating how ads are
performing. Cost Per Click or CPC indicates the exact amount a site owner earns whenever a
visitor clicks on an ad. Click Through Rate or CTR takes into account the ratio of page views
and ad clicks. Linktrackr helps you make those evaluations.
Capture Page and Sales Pages
In order to capture emails you’ll need to set up a squeeze page. That is how I got you to
download this eBook. I prefer Leadpages which I have found to be the easiest to learn and
use. No knowledge of coding is needed. Below is an example of one of my squeeze pages that
literally created in minutes. Another great feature it has is the ability to connect with Aweber so
you don’t have to do any coding. Your leads will automatically be added to your desired list.

Every day out there in the real brick and mortar world, millions and millions of people drag themselves from their warm beds, take a shower, grab a cup of coffee, and head off to their jobs as they are thinking that there has got to be an easier way to make a living. Every one of those millions and millions of people knows somebody who has quit the ‘get-up- and-go-to-work’ grind and is making a very good living by working on their personal computers from the comfort of their own homes. Working from home sounds like an ideal solution to them. Many of these dissatisfied souls will quit their jobs and plunge head-first into internet marketing with no preparation, no knowledge of what they are doing, no education, and no hope of success. Failure is their only option and they don’t even suspect. The fact is that according to many sources, more than 90% (Ninety percent) of all Internet business start-ups end in failure within the first 120 (one hundred twenty) days. Yes, you read that right. MORE THAN NINETY PERCENT! This failure rate should be a warning to those who are considering trying their hand at making a go of working on the Internet rather than at a job in the brick and mortar world. People will go into an internet business with the idea that they no longer have to get up and go to work. They think they can simply work when the feel like it and still make a good living. They simply do not expect to have to work hard or work long hours. Wrong Perceptions about the Internet The 90% failure rate of new Internet businesses really isn’t all that surprising when you stop to think about the people who are starting internet businesses. For some unknown reason most people think that running a successful internet business is as easy as getting a website built and hanging out an ‘open for business’ sign. They couldn’t be more wrong. Running a successful internet business of any kind requires self-discipline. People will start an internet business and think that they can party all night, sleep until noon and then make a living in 3 or 4 hours sitting in front of a computer. They somehow think that the world is just going to line up on their website and hand over money. It isn’t going to happen. Internet businesses do not run on auto-pilot. It is true that well established internet marketing gurus do not have to put in long, tedious hours on their businesses but it is a privilege that that has been earned by putting in a lot of long and tedious hours. It didn’t happen overnight for them and it won’t happen overnight for anybody. Surround yourself with successful people and you will have a better chance at becoming successful. Setting a corner stone of good solid relationships is an important aspect of building a successful e-enterprise. Working hard at building good solid business relationships is worth every minute of time that you invest in it. Business relationship building should be one of your top priorities. When you build social relationships, you insert yourself into social situations where you come in contact with people who have interests that are similar to or complimentary to your own interests don’t you? That is precisely the same way that business relationships are established. You insert yourself into business situations where you will meet others who have businesses that are similar to or complimentary to your own business. You develop relationships over a period of time. There are several ways in which to accomplish this task. One way is to participate in teleseminars or webinars that are related to your business. You will learn a lot, of course, but equally important, you will come in contact with those who are already succeeding in the niche market that you are working in. Of course, attending real brick and mortar world seminars is an even better way to begin to build friendly business relationships with not only your peers but also with those who are in a position to help you....which brings me to the final corner stone that you need to lay.

He has helped guide me in my Journey working with My Top Tier Business. It isn’t likely that there is a more valuable asset that a new e-entrepreneur can have than a good and capable mentor. Someone who has already made all of the mistakes can help you to avoid making all of the mistakes yourself. They have the wisdom that comes from experience to point out pitfalls and to help direct you toward the better of choices. Why, you ask, would anyone who has it made want to take their time to help a newbie succeed? Successful internet marketers want that ‘immortality’ as well. The ones who are the very most successful are the ones, amazingly enough, who are the most likely to mentor an up and coming e-entrepreneur. Of course, these successful internet marketers are not going to be interested in wasting their time on a person who has not already worked hard to lay those first three corner stones themselves. These potential mentors are looking for new comers who show that they have a right and healthy mindset, who are working hard at leveraging and who are well aware of how important it is to know all the players and the RIGHT people.

A good mentor can help you get an online business up and running faster and more successfully than any other option. All of my coaches are 6-figure earners and bona-fide online marketing experts — check it out! I’m a Newbie. Where do I start? Here is a basic checklist to get you started in Internet Marketing. I wish I had a list like this when I first started. I could have saved hundreds maybe even thousands of dollars. Come up with a plan and an identity Think about what you’re passionate about. Is it SEO, Social Media, Affiliate Marketing or just Internet Marketing in general. Really think about this because this will affect how and what you do. If you’re not passionate and completely bored out of your mind chances are you’ll be heading down the wrong path. The most important thing is to be yourself and give your readers value. In so many instances newbies will set up a blog and immediately flood it with affiliate links and banners. In the beginning you’ll want try to follow and emulate gurus which isn’t bad but you really need to focus on you. You want to create your own brand and giving your readers what they are interested in.

Copyright 2015 by Richard Takemura dot com | page 12 Figure out your desired URL or website address I have all my domains and hosting at Hostgator but you can easily get them with many other vendors like GoDaddy. This is probably the most difficult part searching for a name because there are companies out there that just buy names and make a business out of it. Whatever you can think of they probably own it and will try to sell it at a premium. If you want to brand yourself then use your name. Good chance it might be available. Remember that Content is Always King You probably know that content is more important than buzz words and search engine optimization these days, but remember to apply those same principles to your email marketing. While it is true that one of your goals should be to drive traffic to your website, store, or blog, it is also true that the best way to accomplish that goal is through good content. Don’t make your blogs or emails just a bunch of images and taglines. Instead, provide small pieces of content in them with links to a place where customers can learn more about what you are offering. The goal in list building is not only to have a wide network of people you can contact, but to provide you with the means of engaging that network. What Content Management System do you want to use? I recommend you use Wordpress. It is very easy to set up and can be up rather quickly.   • 13. Copyright 2015 by Richard Takemura dot com | page 13 Blog Design and or Theme In the beginning stages you can keep it basic but if you want to customize your theme there are many places. A few that I’ve used are Themeforest.net and Studiopress.com. They both have great tutorials on how to set up columns, change headers, backgrounds, colors, font types, etc. Below is an example of a theme I purchased on Themeforest.net. Colors make a big difference in mood when someone is on your site. Read my article Colors and your website. List Building Among the many tools that a web marketer has to attract people to a website is the use of email lists. Email marketing is more effective than SEO optimization and social media in many ways because it is more targeted. It also breeds a sense of customer identity and loyalty that other forms of marketing don’t. However, you need to make sure that you go about list building in the proper manner. The tips below will help you in a successful list building venture.
  • 14. Copyright 2015 by Richard Takemura dot com | page 14 You should consider your marketing emails to be something akin to a company newsletter or similar regular communication. This is the primary way that subscribers will hear about who you are and what you do and it can be an extremely valuable tool in converting readers into customers. Before you even begin list building, you need to make sure that you have a plan mapped out. This plan should include what you want to include in your emails, how often you want to send them out, and what customers you are specifically targeting. You should also design your email template to include your company logo and any other branding information you might need, establishing an identity early on. Set Up a Good Auto responder One of the most effective tools that can supplement any new list building software is a good auto responder program. This will give you a way to automate a response to people who send you emails. I personally use Aweber. Build for the Long Term It's important to remember that email marketing isn’t just a passing fad that will go away in a few years. When you start out list building, you need to be thinking in the long term. Select a pool of potential clients that you can expect to get lasting loyalty from. Pace your emails so you provide a little bit of tantalizing information each one, but don't feel the need to overload each mailing with information. You are building your list as something that will be around for the foreseeable future, so you can pace out the information at an appropriate rate. Analyze exactly how much news you usually have over a given time period and then plan your emails accordingly to deliver that news when it is relevant.

Copyright 2015 by Richard Takemura dot com | page 15 Provide an Easy Opt In for new Customers Once your list building is nearly complete and you're almost ready to launch your email campaign, you need to make sure that you get as many subscribers as possible. You can use existing lists as a base, but email addresses change and lists shrink as the years go by. You need a way to keep track of new and old customers and to encourage people to provide you with their information. You should make sure that you have a landing page with a clear option to subscribe to your emails. Ideally, this subscription option should be one of the first things the customer sees, usually right at the top of the page or at the top of the side navigation frame of your blog or website. Offer Supplemental Support Your list building will be most effective if you can provide some sort of platform for people you contact to learn additional information. Embedding links into your emails is definitely the best way to go in this regard, although other options exist as well including social media outreach as a way of attracting conversation. Again, this infrastructure should be in place before you begin your marketing campaign. That way, when you send out those first few emails, customers will be able to get more information through your online store, your blog, or another outlet that you can use to better inform visitors. The list itself is only part of the job – an infrastructure is an absolute must. Prepare Follow up Letters As you are list building, draft at least one email that you can use as a follow up to reach out to subscribers. This email should have no sales pitch in it. Your goal for the follow up is just to contact subscribers shortly after they join your list and inform them of what they can expect. This has a few benefits. First, you can make a personal appeal to the customer without making that person feel like you are applying immediate sales pressure. Second, the follow up can
  • 16. Copyright 2015 by Richard Takemura dot com | page 16 establish your tone and your brand. Third, it gives somebody who signed up in error a chance to opt out if they want. This is less than desirable, but it’s better not to annoy somebody with a lot of unwanted emails, even if they aren’t a customer. Include an Easy Response System List building involves reaching out to a ton of potential customers, and the customers themselves usually know that they are only one recipient in a larger pool. That doesn’t mean that you need to treat a customer like just another number, though. All mailings that you send out should include an easy to find customer service link or a 'contact us' button that clients can use to reach out to you quickly and easily. Most importantly, these emails should be going to somebody who can provide a personalized and thoughtful response. If you add a personal touch to your interactions with customers, you are much, much more likely to breed brand loyalty and have those customers come back for more down the road. Add Exclusive Content to your Emails While part of the goal of list building is to drive more people to view your website or social media outlet, you strive to make sure that your emails are more than just promotions. Provide plenty of external resources that you can link to, but also make sure to include some exclusive content in your emails. This makes it so that the people who subscribe to your list are getting some sort of reward for doing so, which gives others more incentives to join. This could take the form of exclusive articles, special videos, and much more. Whatever you do to provide this extra content, make sure you advertise it well on your staging platform so people have that extra reason to click on the subscribe button.

Studies have demonstrated that images are extremely popular in marketing emails, and that embedded video is even better if you can produce it at a high enough degree of quality. Whatever list building software you choose to use, make sure that it supports these pieces of multimedia. This will likely mean that you will want to avoid freeware versions of list building software, since those programs provide basic functionality but are rarely reliable when it comes to more advanced options. No matter what sort of images or video you use, make sure that your brand appears to help viewers make the connection. Highlight Deals in the Subject Line If you're using your list building as a way to get the news out about great deals, make sure that you highlight those sales in the subject line of each email announcement. At the same time, avoid making basic mistakes like using poor grammar or using too many capital letters, as these will increase the likelihood that your email will get accidentally deleted as spam. By making your deals as clear as possible in the subject line, you will increase the level of interest in your readers right away. This will in turn make them more likely to click on the email. From there, you should follow through and clearly highlight the deal in your subject line at the top of your email. Good message construction generates sales. Build your Emails like you Build your Site One of the things that will help out your online marketing endeavor a lot is making sure that you stay consistent across all media. That means that your marketing emails should have the same color scheme and basic graphical layout as your blog, store, and website. You don't need to follow the template slavishly, but you should definitely work to make sure that anything you send out is immediately recognizable as a part of your brand identity. When doing longer email articles or links that lead readers to your blog or website, make sure that the writing style
  • 18. Copyright 2015 by Richard Takemura dot com | page 18 remains consistent. The goal should be to give a seamless transition from one form of media to another, no matter where your customers go. Keep a Consistent Schedule Last but not least, make sure that you stay consistent in your email schedules. When you are in the list building phase, you should strive to make sure that you have several emails queued up that will be able to see you through the early weeks or months of your marketing campaign. That way, if you run into a technical problem or some other delay, you have the time to adjust it without disrupting your schedule. The goal of staying consistent in your email releases is to make sure that customers are expecting and looking forward to each new announcement. If you plan to do a weekly email every Wednesday, make sure you have the email ready to go out by Tuesday at the latest to avoid problems. By following the guidelines above, you will be able to engage in a very successful email marketing campaign. Good list building and preparation for a long series of email updates can make the difference between a successful marketing endeavor and one that leaves you with a lot of wasted time and money. No matter what else you do, always remember that quality and consistency are the keys to successful list building. Tracking Links To make sure you know how campaigns are performing you’ll want to have a link tracking account. I personally use Linktrackr. This is how you keep your vendors honest by tracking exact click through rates. Stop guessing and know exactly how your campaigns are performing.

Cost Per Click or CPC indicates the exact amount a site owner earns whenever a visitor clicks on an ad. Click Through Rate or CTR takes into account the ratio of page views and ad clicks. Linktrackr helps you make those evaluations. Capture Page and Sales Pages In order to capture emails you’ll need to set up a squeeze page. That is how I got you to download this eBook. I prefer Leadpages which I have found to be the easiest to learn and use. No knowledge of coding is needed. Below is an example of one of my squeeze pages that literally created in minutes. Another great feature it has is the ability to connect with Aweber so you don’t have to do any coding. Your leads will automatically be added to your desired list.
