In the world of American football, Chicago Bears is one of the
most renowned teams. During the season of football matches,
it is the Bears’ name that everybody wants to hear over and
again. It has a huge fan following who always want to see its
favorite team on the winning position. With a strong squad of
players, the team is one of the best to give perfection as they
know what they have and how should they utilize their
resources. Robbie Gould who plays as a placekicker for the
Bears is one of its best known players who have won various
accolades for the team and himself as well.
Recently, the Chicago Bears had signed a deal with kicker
Robbie Gould for a four-year contract extension. According to
the contract, Gould will remain with the Bears through 2017,
with a worth $15 million of which $9 million is guaranteed. This
contract money has made him the highest-paid kicker in the NFL history. In the history of Bears,
Gould is the only second player to players to eclipse 1,000 career points, and is the third-most
accurate field goal kicker in NFL history.
The contract seems to be a worthwhile reward for Gould considering the numbers he has earned
over his nine-year career as a kicker. Earning 232 points and as a fifth scorer in programmed
history, he ended his Penn State career. In 2005, Robbie Gould went undrafted bouncing between
the practice squads before finally settling down with the Bears. Once he entered the Chicago Bears,
there was no looking back for him and since then has converted 86 percent of his field goal
attempts.
Talking about the deal in a press conference deal, Robbie Gould said, “This is an awesome
opportunity.” He also said that it is important for him to remain a Bear and would love to hold a
trophy for the Chicago Bears.
