Father Joseph Ly, S.J. is the only boy with four
sisters in a catholic family in a three generations
Father Joseph Ly, S.J. has one sister who became
a nun

Education
• Primary and junior high school in
Beijing
• Senior high studies in Xianxian
county, Hubei province
• Finished University study at Xianxian.
• 1944, he entered the Society of
Jesus in Xianxian.
• 1946-47 he went to Shanghai to
study Latin and Chinese Literature for
1 year and back to
Beijing to study Philosophy.

In October 1949, Fr Joseph Ly,
S.J. came to the Philippines to
continue his Philosophy in
Novaliches.
In 1952-56 he had his
Theology studies in Baguio
and ordained priest.

USA to study Math and
got Master Degree

• Principal of Xavier School
for almost 3 years from
1958 to 1961.
During his tenure. Xavier
School participated in the 1st
Tiong Lian
Basketball Competition and
won the championship.
•1970-77 taught at Xavier High
School

From 1978 to 1985, he was in Lucena City by invitation
to run the Holy Rosary Chinese Catholic School.

Asia.
