children with life-threatening medical conditions to
enrich the human experience with hope, strength and
joy.
3. • Make-A-Wish was inspired by Chris
Greicius. Chris had been diagnosed
with Leukemia at a young age and all he
wanted to do was be a policeman. The
Arizona Department of Public Safety,
Chris’ mother and a few friends were
able to make Chris’ wish come true.
• This generous idea had continued to
grow and bring the same hope and
enjoy it received from Chris to other
children across the world. The Make A-
Wish foundation has continued to grow
over the years and is now operating in
50 countries.
4. • A child must be referred by someone in order for that child to receive a wish and must be diagnosed
with a life-threatening disease.
• The child must be between the ages 3-17 in order to be granted a wish.
• According to the Make-A-Wish website, the child can be referred by one of the three sources:
• medical professionals, a parent/guardian, or the potential wish child.
• Once the child is referred, then the child’s doctor must decide whether or not he or she is eligible for a
wish based off their medical records.
• Now, the child’s treatment and health are still the priorities, so the doctor and the family will work with
Make-A-Wish to decide when will be a reasonable time to make this wish come true
• Types of Wishes:
• I wish to go
• I wish to have
• I wish to be
