Robert oversees the work of the Academy's Washington office and the Humanities Indicators (www.humanitiesindicators.org). He is the author of History's Babel: Scholarship, Professionalization and the Historical Enterprise, 1880–1940 (University of Chicago Press, 2013) and over 200 articles on various aspects of history, higher education, and electronic publishing in publications ranging from Perspectives on History to the Chronicle of Higher Education. He received his PhD from George Mason University in 2009.
