Lots of strange experiences in mineral, coal & oil geophysics. First found in the trace fossil record as a paleo-proterozoic structural geologist specializing in regional photogrammetry & basement mapping. When too ill for fieldwork in '71-'72, processed seismic with holey cards at Western - initiating RAP. Caved a PhD at Durham, burrowed into British Coal, then survived the UK Coal/Oil Boundary hiatus with Schlumberger in India. Collaborated with the late great Prof E.I. Gal'perin on the Downhole Seismic Array, then a major New Toy. Currently in a motile thanatocoenosis alleviating (I depend on their support nowadays!) a dearth of young geophysicists.
