 Staff Selection Commission(SSC) is an Indian association to select staff
for different posts in the different Ministries and Departments of the
Government of India and in Subordinate Offices.
 This commission is a connected office of the Department of Personnel
and Training which comprises of Chairman, two Members and a
Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations.
 The Estimates Committee of the Parliament prescribed the setting up of
a Service Selection Commission in its 47th report(1967-68) for
directing examinations for recruitment to lower classes of posts. Later,
in the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, On 4
November 1975 Government of India constituted a Commission called
the Subordinate Services Commission. On 26 September 1977,
Subordinate Services Commission renamed into Staff Selection
Commission.

1.Nationality
 A candidate must be one of the following:
 (a) A citizen of India.
 (b) A subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
 (c) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before
01/01/1962 with the intention of permanently settling in
India.
 (d) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from other
countries (detailed list of countries available in( SSC
EXAM coaching)) with the intention of permanently
settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to
categories (b), (c) or (d) above shall be a person in whose
favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the
Indian government.

2.Educational Qualification
 For the post of Compiler: Bachelor's degree from any
recognized university with Economics/Statistics/Mathematics
as compulsory or elective subject.
 •For the post of Statistical Investigator Grade -
II: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized
University with:
At least 60% in Mathematics at 12th Standard level OR
Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
 •For all other posts: Bachelor's degree in any discipline
from a recognized University or any other equivalent
qualification.

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for every incorrect

Proficiency Test with Word Processing, Spread

Skill Test at speed of 8000 key depressions per
hour.

SSC CGL is a paper based test and consists of
three successive stages:-
• Tier I - Objective type test
• Tier II - Objective type test
• Tier III - Computer proficiency test/ skill test/
interview depending on the post.
