2. Profile Tip #1: Completion of
your profile
Fill out every section of your LinkedIn profile. Why?
• Profile completeness factors into your profile ranking on
the LinkedIn search.
• If you have a website you want it to be in the first 10 results
on Google? Right?
• The same idea applies to LinkedIn search. You want your
profile to be in the first 10 results.
• That way you are more likely to be discovered by potential
clients, partners, or anyone else doing the search on LinkedIn.
• Now, obviously filling in your profile alone will not get your
ranking to the top but it will definitely increase it.
3. Profile Tips #2: Executive
Summary
Write the section “about” you in terms of your past,
present, future.
• Start with a mission statement stating the intention of
your professional work.
• Describe your past experiences, achievements, projects
to prove your mission statement and build trust.
• Describe your present work, and projects so that people
know if their work aligns with yours in case they are
looking to partner or work with someone like you.
• Describe your future, meaning where you are planning
to be in the next 2,5,10 years so that people know if
they should watch your work to potentially reach out to
you in the future.
4. Tip #3: LinkedIn Search
• LinkedIn search is used to apply a criteria of people that you
are looking to to hire, collaborate with, or simply prospect for
your business.
• The beauty of the LinkedIn search engine is that you can find
everyone in your area that fits your criteria within seconds.
• Decide on key things that people you are looking for would
have on their profile and punch into the search.
• A simple example: “videographer”, “New York” --> to find
videographers in New York.
• LinkedIn search allows you to prospect for people
systematically versus going to networking events where it is
up to chance.
