build goodwill and peace in the world.
3. THE FOUR-WAY TEST
The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian
ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and
professional relationships. The test has been translated
into more than 100 languages:
Of the things we think, say or do
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
5. Our Avenues of Service:
Community
International
Vocational
Youth
Membership

6. Community Service:
Encourages every Rotarian to find
ways to improve the quality of life
for people in their communities and
to serve the public interest.
7. International Service:
Exemplifies our global reach in promoting
peace and understanding. We support this
service avenue by sponsoring or
volunteering on international projects,
seeking partners abroad, and more.
8. Vocational Service:
Calls on every Rotarian to work with
integrity and contribute their expertise to
the problems and needs of society.

14. Where does Rotary fit in your life?
We all have busy lives:
Our Families come first
Our jobs a close second
Rotary is something that fits into the time you have free
to offer. This may vary at different times in your life.
Young families leave parents with little spare time.
Developing careers can likewise leave little spare time.
Rotary accepts what you have to offer.
15. A Rotary Club operates similarly to a small
business. However it is NOT a business it is a
charitable, volunteer, service organisation.
Members give their time and expertise where and
when they are able to without coercion.
Members support and help each other.
Members pass on their Rotary skills and
knowledge to new and less experienced
members.
16. As a Rotarian you are a member of a
worldwide organisation you can visit any
club anywhere in the world. You will be
welcomed and offered friendship and
fellowship thus building relationships
across international boundaries.
17. What’s in it for me?
• An opportunity to make new friends and social
contacts
• An opportunity to develop business networks
• If you move to a new location you will have a
readymade network in your local Rotary Club
• Giving something back
