Achievements
• I’ve managed maintenance teams instrumental in the startup of brand new plants such as EC
Manufacturing, AZ Automotive Corp, and Van Rob. We launched brand new products with prototype
equipment that was far from production ready. When I began at EC Manufacturing, there were only 10
machines which did not run well and approximately 150 total employees. I had only a handful of
maintenance technicians in the beginning. In just 6 months’ time we added 81 additional production
lines and over 1000 employees. This was a very intense and exciting time! I hired and trained additional
maintenance technicians resulting in my crew of 22 highly skilled maintenance technicians and 2
maintenance leads. I worked closely with controls, electrical, and mechanical engineering groups
including subcontractors during this intense startup phase. During the next 1 ½ years these support
groups were gradually phased out and it became the sole responsibility of the maintenance team to
support all of this equipment and continuous improvements. It was my responsibility to ensure my
technicians were trained and up to taking on this task. We were able to increase throughput by 2 million
parts per week with yields and throughput climbing daily. This was a very intense operation running
24/7 with 12 hour rotating shifts. Every one of my team members take great pride in our
accomplishments with great enthusiasm and work well together as a team.
• Set up initial Spare Parts and Tool inventories in startup plants where none previously existed.
• Developed and implemented an automated uptime reporting system, tracking all aspects of equipment
uptime/downtime. This program integrated with Excel to automatically update equipment statistics in
real time from anywhere in the plant.
• I maintained the highest equipment uptime percentage of all Sodecia North America plants at over 99%.
2. • Implemented and performed automated system upgrades and improvements increasing throughput by
over 50% from 43 JPH to 87 JPH and simultaneously reducing annual manpower costs at Sodecia/AZ
Automotive.
• I brought the Lenexa AZ/Sodecia plant to become the most productive flagship plant in North America
with continuous improvements, training, and lean manufacturing principles. My plant set the bar at
which other AZ/Sodecia plants were measured.
• Developed and set up an in house training center for Robotics, PLCs, VFDs, Servo controls, Panel View
touch screens, and Atlas Copco Tensor tools. I led and developed these training programs for new
maintenance personnel.
• I Re-balanced and redesigned operations, increasing productivity and quality while reducing manpower.
• Developed and led training programs for all Sodecia North America Plants in the implementation and
use of MP2 CMMS maintenance systems.
• I led the initial plant startup and improvements of automated production equipment, robots, vision
systems, and alignment systems for the Malibu, Aura, and G6 at the Sodecia/AZ Automotive Plant.
• Reduced aligner cycle times by 50% and doubled throughput by implementing programming and
mechanical improvements.
• My Sodecia/AZ Automotive plant consistently won the coveted “WOW” award (World-class Organized
Workplace) every consecutive year by maintaining stringent 5S standards and disciplines.
Professional Experience
• Manage all aspects of maintenance departments and trades. Over 20 years of experience in fast paced
union and non-union manufacturing and automotive environments.
• Organized and led the installation of new plant equipment from start to finish including robots, vision
systems, and other automated prototype equipment.
• Manage all aspects of maintenance spare parts and tool inventory. This includes RFQs, Purchasing,
Receiving, Vendor Relations, Initial Setup, and Spare Parts/Tool Management.
• Set up new maintenance spare parts and inventory control system with CMMS software.
• Manage training and safety programs for the maintenance department.
• Perform PLC program modifications, upgrades, troubleshooting, and system improvements on
automated production equipment.
• Provide technical support for off shift maintenance issues including occasional onsite support for other
plants.
• Local System Administrator working closely with a remotely located IT department maintaining
InSequence, Pinpoint, and other servers.
• Manage and supervise production as necessary including production supervisors and operations.
• Perform and participate in root cause analysis using 5Y, 8D, and other problem solving techniques.
• Kaizen events and other continuous improvements.
• Fill in as Plant Manager and Materials Manager covering for vacations or extended absences.
