Consumer Perception
Cab aggregator Ola announced Monday that its mobile wallet, Ola Money, will be soon enabled as a payment method on Oyo Rooms, Lenskart, Saavn, Zopper, BusIndia, and Zoomin. This follows the company's forays into food and grocery delivery with Ola Café and Ola Store earlier this year.
With Ola Money, customers can use the wallet's one-touch checkout experience outside the Ola platform, taking away the hassle of one time passwords and multi-layer authentications, and benefit from promotions in the form of cashbacks and discounts from merchants in the initial phase of rollout, the company said. The company claimed to be one of the top three mobile wallets in the country by transaction volume, with over 20 million customers on its platform.
Now pay for your Ola auto ride with Ola money and enjoy a cashless experience!
Here’s how:
Download the Ola app: it all starts here.
Recharge Ola money through credit/debit card or online banking.
Book an Auto with the Ola mobile app.
At the end of the trip, you can choose to pay for ride either partially or completely with your Ola money balance.
If you choose to pay with Ola money, mention the amount to the driver. You will then receive an SMS with an authentication code. Here’s the sample sms: “Your authentication code for KRN XXXXXXX is 0000. Your Ola Money bill amount is Rs Z. Kindly communicate the 4 digit code to the driver to proceed with the transaction”.
Share the authentication code with the driver.
Voila! You have now paid for your auto with Ola money.
Please note:
The final payable amount for every ride includes Rs.10 as a convenience charge on top of the metered amount. Autos also levy an extra night charge mandated by the government. Check FAQs
Ola money doesn’t get automatically debited, and the customer has the choice to pay for the ride in cash.
By sharing the authentication code with the driver, you are agreeing to pay the respective amount to the driver in Ola money.
If due to network issue, you don’t receive the SMS, we request to you pay the driver in cash. Your Ola money will not be debited.
To pay through the in-app wallet, the customer has to just inform the auto rickshaw driver that the payment will be made with Ola Money. On completion of the ride, the driver will enter the fare displayed on the meter, followed by the four-digit one-time password that the user will receive through an SMS. Ola money is then automatically deducted from the user's account.
The Ola Wallet can be topped up through a credit card, debit card or online banking. Following this, the fare amount is automatically deducted from the customer’s wallet after ride completion and a receipt is emailed to them.
Drivers can withdraw their payments anytime from the prepaid ATM card that is linked to their Ola account.
Ola's rival Uber too offers cashless payment. It has exclusively tied up with Paytm to enable users to pay for their cab rides after Reserve Bank of India issued a directive that Card Not Present (CNP) transactions for purchases of goods and services in India had to be processed through banks and payments needed to be made in rupees only.
Ola, founded in January 2011 by IIT Bombay alumni Bhavish Aggarwal and Ankit Bhati, does not allow pre-reservation of autos and the booking needs to be done only through the 'Ride Now' option.
