2. CUDC PROJECT MISSION
The Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative (CUDC)
will continue a partnership launched by Kent State
University last year with Havana-based architects Sofía
Márquez Aguiar and Ernesto Jiménez of Fábrica De
Arte Cubano (Cuban Art Factory). The architects will
work with a 2017 CUDC Urban Design and Landscape
Architecture graduate studio and a Cleveland Institute
of Art Interior Design studio on design proposals
for two neighborhood projects: one in Havana’s
Vedado neighborhood, where Fábrica De Arte Cubano
is located, and another in Cleveland’s Glenville
neighborhood. In April, Márquez Aguiar and Jiménez
will travel to Cleveland to review the students’ design
proposals for Vedado and will remain in Cleveland for
two months as they work with students to generate and
fabricate the project to be built in Glenville. The project
in Glenville will support efforts of the FRONT Triennial
and the long-term planning goals of Famicos for the
Glenville neighborhood.

7. E105MOTION
The first photo-finish in an Olympic games was
in the final of the 100m sprint at the last London
games in 1948. Timing was only recorded to
the nearest 0.1s and both Harrison Dillard and
Barney Ewell ran a time of 10.3s. Fortunately
they had setup the camera on the finish line and
could determine that Dillard had won.
Clevelander Harrison Dillard graduated from
East Tech High School eight years after his hero
Jesse Owens. The Harrison Dillard Bikeway
runs through Glenville, linking the Cleveland
Lakefront Bikeway to the north with University
Circle to the south.
