 Setting the scene – the challenges and opportunities for SAIs – Martin Sinclair, SIGMA expert
Mr. Sinclair will provide a brief overview of how OECD countries’ financial management and reporting
systems have coped and adapted to the demands and pressures brought about by the crisis, illustrated by
some country examples. This includes the challenges related to intensified risk profiles, accountability and
transparency. There is a vital role to play for SAI’s in recognising the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic
and support a pragmatic, flexible and responsive approach that promotes the accountability and flexibility
necessary to maintain trust and confidence in public policies and institutions.
2. Sharing Network SAIs experiences - 10h30-11h45
 Contribution by each of the seven participating SAIs – 5 to 10 minutes each
We invite senior management representatives of each SAI to provide a brief overview of the impact
of COVID-19 on the public finances, the SAI’s current responses and future plans. This includes the
opportunities and barriers to engagement of SAIs related to the COVID-19 crisis.
