Background @Background
Social networking platforms have changed the way
individual legal professionals communicate, share, and
present themselves to their colleagues, clients, and the
general public. Specifically, the social networking
platform known as twitter, has become a popular tool for
engaging in legal information activities including, but not
limited to, current awareness and self-promotion.
Methodology @Methodology
25 accounts were drawn from a snowball sampling from
a compilation of lists prepared by experts in the field. The
most recent 50 tweets from each account, excluding
retweets without added content, were categorized as
Current Awareness, Self-Promotion, or Alternative.
Alternative content was analysed to determine additional
categories. The frequency of the information activities
was determined by account owners’ participation rate(s).
