As West African regional economies moves further towards economic integration, Nigeria continue to strengthen its position as the African biggest and among world next economic powerhouses while Ghana look towards benefiting from the oil revenues. West Africa’s long-term growth will increasingly reflect interrelated economic, social and demographic changes creating new domestic engines of growth. Key among these will be increasing employment opportunities, urbanization, closing infrastructure gaps, mitigating food security, quest for energy demand, harnessing disruptive innovation and industry competitiveness as the middle-class consumers and market continue to rise.
A critical question is whether regional economic surge represents long term take-off. While short-term risks remain, analysts suggests that West Africa has strong long- term growth prospects, propelled both by external trends in the global economy and internal changes in the regional societies and economies. However, it is imperative to highlight that Energy, Oil and Gas sector, investment, SMEs, improved economic environment and rising skilled labour market will play pivotal roles to sustain the current growth trajectory and regional growth competitiveness.
This two days thought provoking and knowledge enriching high level conference aim to engage regional industry players, government representatives, entrepreneurs and businesses leaders to debate and establish solutions that will seek to foster sustainable economic growth prosperity. Further to facilitate financial deepening, increased SME competitiveness and create employment opportunities in West Africa. The event will create a platform for participants to share perspectives, market insights, and knowledge and to network.
