• Indonesia shares borders with Malaysia, Papua New Guinea
and East Timor. It is a sovereign state in Southeast Asia.
• It is home to around 250 million people and there are over 740
different languages and dialects spoken in the country
• Islam is Indonesia’s main religion of around 88%.
• Indonesia’s tropical wilderness supports some of the highest
level of biodiversity in the world.
3. Charity: IIWC, Volunteer Indonesia
International Work camp
Aims:
• To help empower the local community in their efforts to become
environmentally friendly
• To provide a space for exchange (&cultural exchange) between young
people
• To develop the local economy by making the rural communities tourist
friendly areas.
4. The Project:
Location: West Java, Batu Lonceng
The aims of this project are to:
• Invite local people in the community to care for the
environment.
• To educate local children about being eco friendly
• To introduce the IIWC’s objectives to all local people
• To explain the economic benefits to the local people of an
environmentally friendly environment
•Physical labour: make organic decomposer, plant trees, clean
river, litter picking initiatives
5. Basic Project Information
• Number of volunteers – 10
• Amount of money to be raised: £6,000.
£3,000 raised through individual events, i.e £300 per volunteer;
£3,000 raised as a group.
• Length of project – 4 weeks at Batu Lonceng Envi Camp
• Accommodation – Staying with host family or in rented house
(with other volunteers)
• Working week – 6 days (with 1 day off)
