2. Curriculum in simple words....
• A curriculum refers to a defined and prescribed
course of studies, which students must fulfill in order
to pass a certain level of education.
• अभ्यासक्रम म्हणजे ववद्यार्थयााला शिक्षणाची एक
पातळी/ इयत्ता उत्तीणा होण्यासाठी दिला गेलेला
ठराववक व निश्चचत असे अध्ययि ववषय.

• A curriculum is the combination of instructional practices, learning
experiences, and students' performance assessment that are designed to
bring out and evaluate the target learning outcomes of a particular course.
A detailed plan for instruction set by policy-makers.
• िालेय व सहिालेय प्रसांगातूि (ठरववक उपक्रम, माध्यम व मूल्यमापि
पद्धत) अपेक्षक्षत वताि बिल घडवूि आणण्यासाठी प्रयत्िाची समग्रता
म्हणजे अभ्यासक्रम.
• Curriculum is the outline of concepts to be taught to students to help
them meet the content standards. Curriculum is what is taught in a given
course or subject. Curriculum refers to an interactive system of instruction
and learning with specific goals, contents, strategies, measurement, and
resources.
• अभ्याक्रम म्हणजे ववध्यार्थयाांिा ठराववक भाग अध्यापिाच्या दृष्टीिे
बिववण्यात आलेला आराखडा. यामध्ये ववववध ववषयाांचा अांतभााव क

4. Various definitions of curriculum
• A curriculum based on the essential learning and a common scheme of
studies is referred to as a core curriculum. Casweel defines: Core as “A
continuous carefully planned series of experiences which are based on
significant personal and social problems and which involve learning of
common concern from all youth.

5. Need of curriculum
अभ्यासक्रमाची गरज
• The curriculum development is done in view to realize the
objectives of education. Thus the curriculum is the means for
achieving the educational objectives. The curriculum is
designed which helps in development in good qualities
in students. It helps in developing intellectual, physical, social
and moral qualities of learners.
• अभ्यासक्रम हा शिक्षणाची ध्येये साध्य करण्यासाठी ववकशसत

1. The curriculum must continuously evolving.

3. It should be democratically conceived and accepted.

A textbook is a tool for student as well as a teacher.

in schools.
• पाठ्यपुस्तक म्हणजे एखाद्या ववशिष्ट ववषयासांबांधी मादहती पुरवणारे

15. Demerits of using text books
1. Too much dependency can develop only
bookish knowledge.
2. It does not give practical experiences.
Students only acquire virtual knowledge.
3. Limitations of inclusion of visual aids and
examples.
4. Regular updating is not feasible.
5. Some scholars might not find it adequate and
interesting.
