2. • College laboratories or College labs as they are called, is
a place where practical approach is given to a topic of
interest.
• Mainly Science Stream deals with laboratories.
• Not all science classes have labs , some are just lecture
courses. They are scheduled at a separate time from
lecture period.
• During lab courses , students get a hands-on experience
of subject being taught during the lectures.
3. • College Lab Protocol vary accordingly. Chemistry lab
requires proper apron, gloves etc., where as other lab
courses may not need this.
• Students take classes with labs for many different
reasons , usually to fulfill general-education requirements
, while many science majors require various lab classes.
• Another important reason is , not only understanding the
theory behind a topic but also its practical application in
day to day life.

6. College lab been opened for student welfare , it is seen
that students don’t have the freedom to fully access it .
Moreover there is fear among the students when they enter
the lab rather than wish to learn something new.
1. Computer labs have computers severely infected by
viruses , while many of the computers are not working
properly.
2. Many labs don’t have proper equipments . Most of
them are as old as college. Sometime apparatus for
experiment is completely dead , then too students are
forced to used them.
7. 3. We come across word “GOOD INFRASTRUCTURE”
while taking admissions, but infrastructure of labs are
not good. No proper ventilation system. 40 students
under one roof without fan for 3 hours is surely
suffocating.
4. Less number of apparatus leads to sharing of it .
Sometime lab assistants are not co-operative.Quite
rude at a time.
5. Chemistry lab do not have proper chemicals to use.
Many time burettes ,used for volumetric analysis, are
having leakages.
8. • All these bad practices have a drastic effect on students.
• Old equipments makes the student dwell in past and
keep him away from modern technologies.
• Co-operation of lab assistants is necessary ,if not it may
lead to misunderstanding of concept. It may affect safety
of students in case of Chemistry or Electronics lab.
• Existence of viruses in computers leads to data loss of
students work. In turn students have to do all their hard
work again , which leads to wastage of students precious
time
9. • For smooth proceedings of lab course, proper ventilation
system is must. Improper ventilation system leads to
diversion of students concentration.
• Apparatus in less number leads to loss of individual
interest.
• Due to leakages in burettes, readings obtained are
wrong, which on an whole makes the aim of experiment
wrong . Similar consequences are faced when improper
chemicals are used in experiment.
10. • It is very important to motivate students to take practical
approach than theoretical one.
• It is highly recommended to install anti-virus softwares to
keep attack of viruses away from computers . Weekly
inspection must be done whether all computers are in
proper working conditions.
• Equipments must be modern enough so has to let
students know about modern inventions and discoveries.
• Students don’t expect AC labs but, at least fans is the
basic need.
11. • If experiments to be done in groups is needed then its
fine ,but proper number of apparatus is required where
ever possible.
• At least certain level of purity should be maintain in
chemicals. Burette, pipette, flask , measuring cylinder
etc. should be of good quality.
• Lab assistants should be co-operative enough so that
student can feel the atmosphere of give and take of
knowledge.
12. • Good 5S Practices proves to be best if they are
brought in application.
• The quality of productive work is enhanced and
even the precious time of students is saved .
• Creative approach of students can be achieved.
• Help the students to face the competitive world
in future.
• Due to team work different ideas can be shared
between one another.
