GOING TO EXTREMES
Pushed to the Breaking Point by Fear and Anxiety
3. REDEFINING POLITICS IN THE AGE OF
CHAOS
1. Value systems emerge as a product of interactions between External Conditions of
Existence (Life Conditions, LCs), and internal Complex Adaptive Systems
(Adaptive Intelligence, AI)
2. Emergence alternates between Individualistic Self-Expressive “I”,
and Communal Self-Sacrificial “We” systems. The 2 types of
systems begin to integrate as emergence reaches the 7th level.
3. Each value system has a healthy and unhealthy expression.
It can exist in an Open, Arrested or, Closed state.
4. A person may not be equipped to move to more
complex systems, even if LCs demand it. He/she may
stabilize at one or more systems if LCs are stable, or
downshift to previous systems if LCs are under threat.
5. A person or a culture cannot skip a developmental stage. The
ones who do, run the risk of oversimplifying the importance
of this stage/s to the overall health of the individual or entity.
6. People, groups and cultures exhibit more than one values
system, but will have a main center of gravity (COG)in one or two
systems, placing all other systems at the service of their own COG.
7. Once a person/culture transcends a lower value system, he/
she /it must include it in their new value systems profile. Those who
don’t will develop unhealthy views of the lower systems causing
interpersonal and cultural conflicts.

How Financial Crisis Contribute to Prolonged Political Gridlock
Change following every financial crisis: Political radicalization,
declining government majority, and rise in street protests
• Supporters of Far-Right negatively effected by financial instability.
• Voting for Far-Right parties increased strongly (30% av. increase in Europe).
• As support for traditional governing parties shrinks and the power of fringe
parties increase the political system suffers from prolonged gridlock.
• Fractionalization results in fringe populist candidates rising to power by
offering naïve solutions the current system cannot produce.

POST FINANCIAL CRISIS AND THE FAR RIGHT IN THE US:
• The Rise and Fall of the Tea Party (2010-2015)
• The Rise (and eventual Fall) of the Alt-Right/Trump Movement
SOLUTION: Central Bankers and politicians have a tremendous responsibility in avoiding
future occurrences of financial crisis that lead to political instability.

Entering the Decline Phase of the 3rd Memenomic Cycle
THE PERFECT VALUE SYSTEMS STORM LATE 1990s -EARLY 2000s
1. RISE OF WESTERN UNHEALTHY ORANGE
The World becomes flat. Emerging Economies flood US with liquidity looking for
safe investments other than US treasuries giving rise to Wall Street securitization
2. DISAPPEARANCE OF BLUE FROM BANKING REGULATION
A: November 1999 Congress repeals Depression-Era Glass Stiegel Act
allowing Commercial Banks to enter field of SECURITIZATION.
B: In 2000 Congress fails to regulate financial derivatives and exempts
Credit Default Swaps from State gaming regulations. Risky securities
become insurable & appearance of risk is muted.
3. POST 9/11 ECONOMIC POLICIES OF THE BUSH ADMIN.
A: Need inexpensive ways to finance wars in Afghanistan & Iraq.
B: Call to Arms: “BUY BUY BUY or the terrorists win.”
C: Fed drops Prime rate to 40- year lows.
